She knows that she has power over him. She knows that he cannot refuse her silliest request, and he knows that she knows and he doesn't mind it at all.

Because he loves her

Because they are friends, good friends at that, and sometimes they're friends with benefits and she doesn't mind at all.

Because she loves him

Because he's good-looking and funny and he's not serious about her or anyone else. Seamus Finnegan is always up for a good laugh, and Lavender loves boys who can make her laugh. But more than boys who can make her laugh she loves boys who can take a command and follow it through. Everyone tells him he's whipped.

He loves being whipped

Their seventh year, the darkest year of both their lives, is fraught with fear, and tension and sorrow beyond anything they've ever known, or anything they will ever care to know. She cannot bear it when Carrow tortures him, when he is thrown around the room and hexed with every dark curse in the book. He is her dear friend, and it hurts her, to see him bruised and scarred.

He is still defiant

She begs him, in her own commanding, way, but he candidly refuses her. It is the first time that her big blue eyes, and trembling lower lip don't make him bend to her will. She cries but he is ready. He can't stand the thought of her living in a world where people like the Carrows tell her she's dirty, and stupid.

He does it for her

She bandages him up every time, and every time she cries. They think the pressure is getting to her and that she cries for the horror that has rent their lives in two but they never see her cry anywhere else.

She only cries for him

The Battle of Hogwarts leaves her scarred in more ways than one. And the Healers tell him they will never go away, the scars that crisscross her back, and mar her face, and run along the lengths of her arms and legs. They tell her they will never go away.

He doesn't care.

He hates himself for being unable to protect her, hates himself for being unable to protect those closest to him. There is relief in a bottle, but when she refuses to kiss him because she hates the taste of firewhiskey on his breath, he vows never to touch a drop again.

Because her wish is his command, Because her kisses taste so much better than firewhiskey

One day, when he visits her, she commands him to lock her away somewhere because she can't stand to look at herself anymore, she can't bear the nightmares, she doesn't want to see the dead anymore. He agrees because her wish is his command and he asks her to marry him.

It is spontaneous and unexpected and he hasn't really thought about it, but if he's going to lock her up somewhere, he's going to be locked up with her.

Because he loves her
