Heaven is a Place on Earth

- they say in heaven, love comes first-

"No."

"No?"

"No."

He let out a sigh, leaning back into the soft armchair. Messy strands of blond hair littered over his eyes, partially blinding him. A glass of wine was grasped in his hand, the blood-red liquid swishing around lazily as he twirled the stem around in his fingertips. The woman across from him smiled slightly, before stretching forward and pushing the open ring box towards him.

"So, that's a definite no then?" he questioned, glancing up at her. She sucked softly on her bottom lip, before nodding, her gaze lowered to the floor. The fabric of her nightgown twisted around in her hands, she stood up, before padding away, the loose nightgown stretched taunt across her swollen stomach.

They'd all kill him if she didn't have that dammed ring glittering on her finger before the baby was born.

Asteria was definitely proving a hard woman to catch.

But, he had to admit, he liked it that way.

"Yes, oh yes, yes!"

His mouth plopped open in shock. He could hardly believe it. "W-w-what?" he spluttered out, shaking his head. The box clattered to the floor, and Asteria, smiling, shifted their son higher up on her shoulder before she bent down and picked it up.

"Yes," she said simply, a grin playing on her lips.

He fumbled with the ring for a moment, before regaining his composure. It was slipped onto her finger, and she admired it with a smile on her face, Scorpius gurgling on her shoulder. Draco took his son from his fiancé – he was flooded with happiness at that single thought- and bobbed his son's nose with his finger, watching Scorpius gurgle.

Asteria placed a soft kiss on his cheek, before she bustled back out of the room, her hips swaying underneath her floaty dress. He admired her for a moment, before he shook his head, capturing his son's tiny wrists in his hand. They were waved about for a second, before he smiled down at him.

Once he was pressed to his chest, he took the delight in swaying on the spot. "Your mum's a crazy witch," he murmured softly to Scorpius. He had taken happiness in secretly addressing him as Scorpy, which Asteria had blatantly refused to do. "But I do love her, all the same."

Thank god she had finally said yes. Thank god, thank god, thank god. Her parents would be so relieved.

"Sweet dreams, Scorpy," he told his son once he had laid him down in his cot and covered him with a blanket. Scorpius gurgled happily, before he stuffed paper into his mouth, his gummy mouth clomping down on the white parchment. Draco stifled a laugh at this, before he pulled the paper out, and let it fall to the floor. Asteria smiled at him for the hallway, the ring glittering on her tiny fingers.

She couldn't delay her acceptance to his proposal any longer.

Truly, heaven was a place on earth.

Aww, I kinda adore Draco in this fic. Don't you? :) I like portraying Asteria as a independant woman who isn't the type to rush into things like marriage, despite what her parents might be urging her to do.
