Apt Pupil

He was your typical young American teen
He had a face like an angel and a voice like a dream
He had bright blue eyes and short blond hair
He was kind of a nerd, but he didn't care

They say he was an apt pupil
A promising young lad
But he threw away his future
To catch up with the past

He regretted the day he knocked on his door
And yet time after time he came back for more
He tried to get out, but it was too late
The twisted obsession had sealed his fate

They say he was an apt pupil
A promising young lad
But he threw away his future
To catch up with the past

He thought he knew what he wanted
But the stories he heard
About the old man's past life
Caused his own to unfold

I'm not particularly happy with this song as a piece of lyrical work; I definitely feel like it's the weakest song I've ever written. But it is the first song that I've ever written that was based upon an outside work of fiction, so I feel that I should post it on here regardless of how shitty it is.

Please feel free to review, but don't be too brutal. Haha.

(Just kidding. Rip this fucker apart.)
