Summary: Sophie's
conversation with Tara regarding the team.
A/N: Another little
thing that's been stuck in my head for a while.
Her phone
rang and a techno beat filled the otherwise quiet apartment. "Hello?"
"Tara?"
"Yes?" the answer was a little
hesitant.
"It's Sophie. Sophie Devereaux."
"Sophie!"
this time it was much more excited. "How have you been? Work any
good cons lately?"
"I've been great. And, I have a
favor to ask."
"Alright. I'll see what I can do. I'm
free for a while. What is it?"
"You see, I've been
working with this team. We get clients and we help them. Like, we
helped an injured veteran by stealing a ton of cash from a corrupt
politician."
"So, you're like... Robin Hood?"
Tara
could hear the smile in Sophie's voice as she answered. "Yeah.
Something like that."
"You want me to help you
guys?"
"Well... it's a bit more complicated than that.
You see, I've left to... have a little break. And the team... The
team can't function without a grifter. They've tried. It hasn't
worked out so well."
"I see. You want me to take your
place until you come back?"
"Yes."
"Alright.
I'll do it. Tell me about the team."
"The team? Well,
there are four of them. There's the leader, Nate. Nate's... Nate's
brilliant. He used to be an insurance cop, but that's been over for a
while. That's how we met, actually. He chased me all over Europe...
He was great at his job."
"Sounds kind of romantic,"
Tara teased. "The white knight and the dark princess? Too
cute."
Sophie blushed, trying to avoid the subject. "Then
there's Eliot. He's the hitter. He's fantastic. He can take down
whole biker gangs with his bare hands. And he's a wonderful chef. He
also is really protective of the team. He's not someone you'd want to
cross."
"Ooo, he sounds like my kind of man."
"And
then there's Hardison. He's sweet. He's our hacker. He's been hacking
since highschool. He robbed the Icelandic bank when he was fifteen.
He hacked the CIA, NSA, FBI, and everything with initials. He also
makes great fake IDs."
"Geek?"
"Most
definitely."
"Who's the fourth?"
"Parker."
"Another
man? How do you live like that?"
Sophie laughed. "No!
Parker's a girl. She's adorable, too. She's our thief. She's stolen
anything you can think of. She crawls through air ducts, jumps off
buildings, and has no idea what a Jimmy Choo is. But she's really
sweet in her own way."
"So, how do I meet this team? Do
I just go in and tell them you sent me?"
"No, that
wouldn't work. You'll have to prove that you're worthy. I'm thinking
that you go in disguised as a lawyer for the next client. After the
con is over, you can introduce yourself for real. Then tell them that
I sent you."
"Sounds fun. I'm going to get paid,
right?"
Another laugh. "Of course, Tara."
"When
do I start?"
"Tomorrow would be great."
"Just
tell me when and where."
"Great. And, thanks. This means
a lot to me."
"No problem, Sophie. After all, you were
the one who saved me in London."
"Not to mention
Istanbul."
"What? I totally saved you!"
"That's
not how I remember it."
"Think what you want. I'll be
seeing your team soon enough and I can evaluate them myself."
"Alright. And, Tara?"
"Yeah?"
"Play
nice."
A/N: Just a little thing that's been stuck in my
head and was begging to be written. And, I haven't seen any fics with
Tara in them yet. And I checked and she's here to stay for the rest
of the second season. So I figured I might as well write one.
I
know it's kind of short, but please review! Reviews make my day.
