Chapter 27

The next day, Eric and the girls woke up, feeling sluggish. They were able to get some sleep; it just wasn't enough. After eating cereal, Eric decided to take a cab since he was too tired to drive. Ariel had let Melody ride on the school bus since she wasn't feeling too good to drive, either.

At work, the employees were already familiar with that dreadful incident. They all offered Eric thier consolations and their prayers. Although Eric didn't like talking about the incident, he was grateful for everybody's concern.

At school, Melody recieved all sympathy cards from her class, including her teacher, Rose, and Omar. Melody read each of them during receess. She was touched that her friends thought of her.

Ariel had sought comfort from her family. Triton assured his youngest daughter these dreams will eventually go away. He also told her that she's welcome to come back home. Ariel refused because she knew how much Eric and Melody need her. Triton was not surprised that his daughter has become attached to them. Mostly Eric.

Soon, it was time for Melody's kindergarten graduation.

Families gathered together in the school gym for the ceremony. It was exciting for them to see their little ones getting thier diplomas. Melody was happy that her father was able to show up for her again.

"...And now I present to you, kindergarten class of 2014! Congratulations!" the kindergarten teacher announced. Everybody cheered and gave an applause! Sebastian nudged a sleeping Scuttle in the elbow to start clapping. Eric and Ariel were both very proud of Melody.

After the ceremony, families were led to the other part of the school gym where food was served. Everybody was mingling around drinking water and eating some petit fours. Melody played with her classmates around the gym.

"Tag, you're it!" Melody tapped Omar on the shoulder.

"No fair!" Omar whined. But he dashed after her and the other kids, anyway. He won't be "it" for long!

..."Sure, Aladdin, I won't forget the meeting tomorrow!" Eric excused himself from Aladdin and his wife, Jasmine. Eric walked around the school gym, looking for Ariel. He spotted her chatting with Mrs. Rapunzel Fitzherbert, Mrs. Anna Groff, and Mrs. Juliet Blueberry. Ariel glanced at Eric and politely excused herself from the group.

"Hey, Eric! What's up?" Ariel smiled.

"Hey, Ariel. I want to ask you something, if you don't mind." Eric stammered, nervously. He's trying his best to stay calm.

"Sure, what is it?" said Ariel.

"Let's go in the back, first," Eric suggested.

"Why, Eric?"

"It's a personal question."

"Oh...well, okay," Ariel shrugged. She and Eric silently sneaked out to the back of the school gym. What does Eric want to ask me that is so personal? Ariel wondered. When they reached a secluded area, Eric stood in front of Ariel. The distance between was close enough for them to feel comfortable. Ariel noticed that Eric was looking apprehensive and looking anywhere but her.

"What's the matter, Eric?" She asked, concerned. looking into Ariel's eyes, Eric finally found the courage to speak.

"I know we have known each other only for a few months," He began. Ariel nodded, patiently. "But I was um...wondering if you would like to have dinner with me tomorrow."

That was when Ariel finally realized why they had to talk privately!

"Are you serious!?" She gasped.

"Yes I am," Eric admitted. "So, what do you say?"

Ariel couldn't find her voice Because she was so surprised. Then, she threw her arms around Eric's neck. Eric blushed at her contact. He really didn't know what to say.

"I love to have to have dinner with you tomorrow," Ariel whispered. Eric was so happy that he planted a kiss on her lips. She kissed him back. Melody, who had been looking for her father and nanny, smiled as she watched them afar.

Later at night, Ariel tucked Melody in bed.

"Good night, Melody," Ariel said, kissing Melody on the forehead. "I'm so proud of you!"

"Ariel, are you and Daddy going to get married?" Melody asked, eagerly.

"We'll see," Ariel smiled, sweetly. She switched the light off and closed the door.

Several months later, church bells rang so loud that the whole town heard them! The church doors opened and out came Eric and Ariel. She was dressed in a white gown with short sleeves. He was dressed in a classic tuxedo. They both can't believe that they are married!. Guests surrounded the Newly weds. Some flashed their cameras. Others blew bubbles. Everybody was either cheering or shouting their congratulations to the happy couple. The couple waved goodbyes to everyone as they went inside their wedding carriage. everybody is going to the reception before the couple head out for their honeymoon. At the reception, Ariel and Eric did their wedding dance that went well. It started off slow and then picked up the beat when Eric spun Ariel a few times and dipped her twice. While Melody watched them dance, the kid swelled up with happiness. She finally got a mother! Eric finally found the wife that he thought he'd never find. Ariel finally found a family that she dreamed of. They couldn't wait to spend their whole life together. And as long as they're together, nothing will ever tear them apart again.
