It was just a typical day at Angel Grove High. Teachers were teaching and students were listening, taking notes, spacing out, sleeping, or talking with their friends. In one classroom, however, one of the students sleeping was Tommy Oliver, White Ranger and leader of the Power Rangers. Seeing this, Aisha Campbell nudged Kimberly Hart.
"Shouldn't we wake him?" she asked in a low tone.
"No. Just let him sleep," came the response. Just then, the sleeping boy made a small whimpering noise.
"Hey, Tommy man, wake up," Rocky DeSantos whispered, nudging him softly.
"That won't work," Billy Cranston told him.
"So, what do we do?" Adam Park wondered.
"Just leave it alone," Billy responded. Then, the sleeping teen began thrashing.
"Tommy," Kimberly said in concern and got up from her seat and hurried to him, kneeling down beside him and touching his arm. Ms. Appleby looked at them in concern.
"Is everything all right?" she asked.
"We're not sure," her student replied.
"NO! DON'T MAKE ME! NO, ROCKY!" Tommy shouted, jerking awake.
"Tommy, hey, it's okay," Kimberly told him.
"Rocky," Tommy whispered.
"Rocky, get over here," Kimberly instructed. Confused, Rocky did so, kneeling beside her. "Put his hand on your heart."
"What?"
"Just do it." Unnerved at the snappish tone, Rocky did so. Tommy closed his eyes and felt the vibrations of Rocky's heartbeat. It was okay. Rocky was alive. He hadn't killed him. Rocky remained where he was, very much aware of the fact that the whole class was staring at them.
"Uh, can I---"
"Let him initiate." Rocky looked to Billy, who had interrupted his question.
"Is everything all right?" Ms. Appleby questioned in concern. She hadn't seen Tommy have a nightmare like that since he had first become friends with Jason and the others.
"Everything's fine. Please just give us a few minutes," Kimberly requested.
"All right," Ms. Appleby agreed. Finally, Tommy removed his hand from Rocky's chest.
"Thanks for bearing with me, man," he stated. The bell rang and the kids piled out.
"Listen, uh, I'll see you guys later," Tommy said.
"All right. Bye," the others responded.
"So, uh, what was that all about?" Rocky wondered.
"Nightmare," Kimberly and Billy chorused.
"Yeah, we kinda got that," Adam said. "But how did you know what to do, Kim?" he continued.
"And why did Rocky have to put Tommy's hand on his heart?" Aisha added.
"To prove to himself that Rocky was still alive," Kimberly answered softly.
"He dreamed that he killed me?" Rocky asked in disbelief, barely remembering to keep his voice down.
"Yeah, the Green Ranger clone probably kicked it off," Billy answered.
"I can understand that," Aisha said. "But it's been a long time, so how did you remember?"
"You don't tend to forget a ritual you had to go through for three months," Kimberly answered.
"Three months?" Rocky, Adam, and Aisha chorused.
"Yeah. Jason started it. He said that it was the best way to calm him down quickly and it always seemed to work," Billy answered.
"Will he be okay?"
"Eventually." With that, the rest of the Rangers went to their classes.
