K, part of my book. It is boring at first, but it gets better. Trust me…Don't be surprised if you see it on shelves soon…

"Ooh, what about him?" Amanda said. "He's totally sexy, right?"

"Umm…he's in the hospital." I said.

"Minor set back." She said.

"He broke his ankle, his leg, and his arm."

"So…whatever. Next!" She commanded. I truly loved Mandy; she was the best friend anyone could ever have.

We flipped through more pages of the yearbook. One photo in particular caught my eye: Emmett Austin. He, of course was in college now, though. He was only a year older, but he had also skipped a grade.

"Mandy, hand me your laptop."

She quickly handed me her pink sparkly laptop; it was just like her personality.

I quickly went on one of the dating sites I frequently saw my father on and searched him.

"Anything?" Mandy asked.

"No. No 'Emmett Austin'." I said. "Let's see…hmm…there's Emmett Turner, hey same last name as me, um… Emmett Brocker…ooh, Emmett Fraiser looks kinda tasty." I clicked up the picture.

"Yeah." Mandy came up next to me. "He looks quite tasty indeed."

"Minor set back." I quoted her. "I didn't notice."

I had clicked up the picture of an Emmett Fraiser, but it ended up being an old man. (I couldn't clearly see the picture at first!!)

"Hmm, how about Emmett Foster?" I asked.

"I don't know, Bec, is he 'tasty' enough for you?" She joked. I just loved my best friend.

"Oh, he's tasty alright. …Better than tasty, actually." I said.

"Becca, Becca, Becca. Don't tell me you're honestly thinking about dating some random guy on the internet, are you?" She asked.

"Hey, I'm not crazy." I said. "Just let me say hi." I went to typing him a message. Hey, you're pic is um… cute.

" 'Just let me say hi' , huh?" She asked. "I just don't want you to get hurt."

"I won't get hurt." I said. "…That old man will for being on a teenager's dating site."

"Ok." She sighed. "Anyway… let's go to the movies."

"Can't. I have to baby-sit Julia." I said.

"Can't you just get your dad to--" She was cut off by my phone vibrating in my pocket.

I quickly pulled it out; I had a text from my dad. I didn't even know he knew how to text.

You don't have to baby-sit Julia tonight, Grandma's coming over tonight and I took off of work. She says she has something for you. She sounded very happy.

-Dad.

"K, guess not. Come on, my Grandma's coming over." I said, pulling Mandy out of her room and across the street to my house.

"Wait, is this the Grandma who made us cookies when we were in the third grade?" She asked.

I nodded. "Yup, that's her."

Grandma came over at about 6:30. I wonder what she wanted to give me. Money? A present? Was it Christmas? Had I lost track of time? No, it was Spring Break, I couldn't forget that!!

"What did you want to give me Grandma?" I asked. "Money? A present? A f--"

She cut me off. "--I wanted to give you these. She pulled out something from her back of tricks.

"Pink Sandals?" I asked. "How …great! …I love them, yay!" I couldn't help but put on a little fake act for her.

She hit my shoulder with one of the sandals. "Nonsense, darling. These are my very special sandals. They're very lucky."

"How?" I asked. "How were they lucky for you, Grandma?"

"You know Grandpa?"

"Yeah, but I don't get how--"

"I was wearing these when I met him." She said.

"Oh." I said. "Carry on, then."

"As I was saying, these sandals were very lucky for me, and I would like to pass them onto you: my granddaughter." She said.

"Oh, well thanks, grandma." I said, before hugging her.

"You're welcome, sweet pea." She patted my back. "You're very welcome."

Ok, for all of you who are saying this is boring, this is actually a very important part of the story. It is basically what strings up the conflict/plot!!

And I did this without looking at my notebook that it's written in, because I've lost it!!

And anyway, REVIEW, and tell me if you like it!!!!!
