(A/N: This was done for this writing challenge at the Fight Imprinting forum. It was for random pairings or pairings we didn't like that much. I chose Emmett/Leah friendship, simply because I was curious how they would react to each other. I'm sorry if this is really out of character—I haven't written about Leah in ages, and I've never written about Emmett. Enjoy!)

The Wolf-Girl and the Leech

"Hey, Wolf-Girl," Emmett says to Leah, who for some reason is sitting in the Cullens' house but looks like she would rather be anywhere else.

"Hey, Leech," Leah replies, not taking her eyes off the carpet.

"Oh, don't call me that." Emmett insists. "I'm your buddy. Call me Emmett."

Leah can't stop herself from smiling a bit. "And you can call me…actually, I'd rather you kept calling me Wolf-Girl."

"Okay," Emmett agrees. "So…How's life?"

Leah rolls her eyes. "I transform into a giant wolf whenever I'm angry, the guy I love left me for my cousin, and I'm sitting in a house full of bloodsuckers. How do you think my life is?"

"I see," Emmett says thoughtfully. "Do you want to talk about it?"

"I've shared my thoughts with enough obnoxious males."

"Okay. Leah, why haven't you…done that shape-shifter-y thing yet?"

"What?"

"Um…you know, where you look at someone and they're your soul mate. Impressing or something like that."

"Imprinting." She shudders as she says the word. "I don't know. I guess soul mates aren't for everyone."

"Don't tell that to some people." Emmett glances pointedly at where Bella and Edward are sitting, admiring Renesmee.

Leah manages a small chuckle. "Speaking of soul mates, why are you talking to me? Shouldn't you be with Blondie?"

"Jasper?" Emmett asked, confused. "Oh, you mean Rosalie. She asked me to talk to you. She said you looked lonely and needed someone to cheer you up. I'm famous for making people happy…no, actually, that's Jasper. But I wanted to find out what goes on in the wolf-girl's head."

"Oh. Well, you know what, Emmett?"

"What?" He expects some kind of insult or an 'I don't need another person in my head.'

"Thanks."
