"I can do this. Just because I'm a girl doesn't mean that you can do everything better" Kat told Patrick and his little followers in the auto shop.

"Then prove that you can fix a car better than us. I wanna see dat thing up and runnin' by tomorrow morning!" One obnoxious guy challenged.

"Let's see, a chance to watch you make a fool out of yourself? I'm in." Kat threw right back in his face. Soon, most of the guys went home, and Kat was left alone in the shop, so she thought. She got to work on fixing her car, praying that this would work out for her. A few hours passed by slowly, and she gradually began to drift.

Her hands balanced her on the front of the car as she closed her eyes for just a moment…

"So much for fixing the car" a familiar voice said with a laugh. Kat's eyes opened slowly as she saw Patrick Verona standing on the other side of the hood.

"I am fixing the car. As a matter of fact, I'm almost done!" She said intensely.

"Really?" He said in disbelief.

"Yeah" She reassured him, trying to keep her eyes open.

"Then show me"

"What?"

"Show me what you've done."

"I don't have to prove myself to you."

"Is it that or do you just not want to show me what you did because you haven't done anything?" God! He got her. She sighed in defeat (which was a rare occasion for her), and let Patrick look under the hood of her car. Suddenly, he laughed.

"What?"

He looked at her, smiling. "All you did was rearrange the gears. You have to-"

"Don't tell me! I have to do it myself!"

He laughed again. "You have to do it all by yourself?" He mocked.

"Yes! That way, I can prove all of your obnoxious, immature boyfriends that I can do this!"

"Oh! You're cranky when you're tired!"

"I'm not tired! I am completely awake!" as she knocked over a tool she laid down on her car. She was never clumsy… She turned back to her car.

"Yeah, completely awake" He said with a smirk. She expected him to stop there, but he didn't. He moved closer behind her and whispered in her ear. "Are you sure you're not sleeping? Maybe you're dreaming."

"If I was dreaming you wouldn't be here." Kat replied, not really meaning what she wanted him to believe.

"Ouch" he smirked again. Kat turned her body so she would be facing him, and normally he would've moved back. But he didn't. In fact, he moved closer so that his body was pressed up against hers.

She looked at him for a few seconds, waiting for him to say something, but he didn't. So she did. "You know, there is a thing called personal space."

"Not here"

"What are you-" but he cut her off in mid-sentence by crashing his lips down on hers.
