You like this bar; they don't stop selling you hypervodkas just because you've already passed out and died four times on this particular binge spree. Besides, there's nothing like dying to detox before the next round.

A piece of folder paper, slightly yellowed and old fashioned – not the sort that people have out in the Petraken system – and even with your vodka addled brain you know who it's from before you look up.

Why not? Why shouldn't you distract yourself for a little while? Try and be happy? But how long was a little while when you lived forever? A couple of hours? A couple of hundred years? Distractions didn't tend to last that long.

The Doctor's gone now; you know that he was saying goodbye, and having a joke whilst he was at it – and you smile as some of the crushing weight on your everlasting heart is lifted – he must have forgiven you.

You glance at the paper again, grinning softly at the name and wondering how the Doctor had known, and whether he had shouted out the awful pun that you can picture so clearly in your head, as you're suddenly sure he has. You'll never be able to ask him now, but does it really matter?

Later, curled up with him in bed; you're still smiling, which makes a nice change, and the warmth of someone's head against your chest is an equally pleasant sensation. You bask in the peace of the moment, no matter how fleeting it is in your own personal eternity.

And although the name that you wanted to be saying over and over earlier wasn't the name on that piece of paper given to you by another man you loved, you were content to be distracted for a little while.

'Ianto…' You whisper quietly, and luckily, Alonso doesn't hear.

Just a little while.

Well, that was very short- i'll attempt to keep this A/N even shorter XP.

Birthday present for my Beta, I baked her a cake in real life - the cake was better. Anyway, this was written on New Years day basically straight after watching End of Time part 2 - it wasn't straight away because I wrote 'Goodbye' first. And then I wasn't typing it up because I wasn't too fussed with it and I had come up with new oneshots (That kind of man and Split Second) which I liked much better. Also, I had initially planned to fill the gaps in next time I watched the ep and could get the dialogue - as this was done from memory - but when I looked at it yesterday I was just like 'screw it, it can be short and sweet, people don't need the whole scene repeating.'

Now, Alonso. I like Alonso, I think the idea of him and Jack is both sweet and hilarious. I still prefer Ianto obviously - and I have that soft spot for my Ianto too ^^" - but I thought it was a good little ending for jack and a nice idea generally.
