Sammy removed the slices from the toaster and dropped them on his plate, leaving them untouched.
"You really should eat all of it," Dean commented. Bread crust was like potato skins, right?
"Don't like crust." Sammy pouted, staring at him with puppy-dog eyes.
Dean took the seven-year-old's plate and knife and efficiently cut the crusts from the bread, then slid the plate back to Sammy. "Here." He opened the strawberry jam and watched his brother spread a layer of margarine on the crustless toast and then glop jam on top.
Sammy took a happy bite of his sandwich. "Thanks, Dean."
