The soldiers of Charlie Base were on edge, fairly freaked out by the sightings of Project Zeus in the area. The patrols were tripled, and no one dared to walk off on their own. Every single one of those soldiers was scared silly by the thought of being eaten alive. All was quiet.
Suddenly, one soldier raised his arm, pointing at the man next to him. "You think you can fool me, but it didn't work!" Every gun in the room was quickly pointed at the new target. However, the man simply stood there with an annoyed look on his face.
"Look guys… I'm not Alex Mercer. You know that, and so do I." he said. "I think that you're all reacting way too stupidly."
The pointer was dumbstruck. "You guys don't honestly believe this guy, do you? I pointed and shouted and everything! Shoot this guy, for Christ's sake!"
The target pushed the pointing finger down. "No, no, no." he said. "I'm just Bobby Lopez. Shooting me would just be dumb. You shouldn't let this guy freak you out and make you shoot innocent teammates. In fact, I think he's trying to take advantage of you."
The pointer, who I'm sick of calling 'the pointer' so let's just call him Toby, opened his mouth in horror. "What are you talking about?"
Bobby shook his head. "What if he's Project Zeus in disguise? I think that the pointing and shouting makes him that much more suspicious. Therefore, we should shoot him."
"No!" Toby shouted. "Shoot him! Shoot him!"
"Don't let him control your minds." Bobby said calmly. "See how he's tweaking? Open fire on that zombie freak."
Toby screamed as he was gunned down. The commanding officer walked over to the corpse, checking for strange tentacles or spikes. He found none, and instead found a perfectly normal, perfectly dead soldier. "Well, Bobby." He said. "I guess you were wrong." He looked around, surprised to find Bobby missing.

"Bobby" stood atop a building three blocks away, smiling as his face melted away. Alex Mercer discarded his assault rifle and began heading home. He muttered under his breath. "Suckers…"
