Valkyria: Hello dear readers. I know I haven't updated but I have hit a major author's block and I can't write or edit anything. Maybe it's the pressure of an upcoming trial that I will take part or maybe my exams. I hope that I will be able to write again soon.

In the meantime this is a small one-shot that was inspired by listening to a very sad song. It is about the night before the Ceremonial Duel. I hope it turned out ok.

Enjoy!

Disclaimer: I don't own Yu-Gi-Oh!.

Our Last Dance

Inside the ship everything was quiet. Either awake or asleep everyone was lost in their thoughts or dreams. The anticipation for the Ceremonial Duel was great.

However inside this ship two souls could not rest.

Yugi and Atemu.

Hikari and Yami.

Two halves of the same soul.

They knew this was the very last night that they would be together. They knew they should duel the next day, so that Atemu's spirit might rest at last. They knew it.

This knowledge didn't make their impending separation any less painful.

From the moment Yugi solved the Millennium Puzzle and their bond began, each of them completed each other. They were two halves of the same soul. Darkness and Light. Different but dependant in each other's existence.

They were perfect together. Each of them helped, loved and supported the other in a way that only soul mates could.

However this was not meant to last.

Cause this was their very last night together.

He could only lay there with his light in his arms, waiting for the inevitable. He could hear Yugi's heartbeat, could feel the soft skin against his, could smell the natural, light scent of his soul mate.

He knew that tomorrow his light would win. He believed in his love. He knew that he should have been happy that at last his soul would return and be reunited with his loved ones.

He couldn't help but feel pain and sadness.

He loved his little light. He didn't want to leave him but he knew there was nothing he could do to prevent it.

All he could do was holding him tighter than ever and cherish their last moments together.

All he could do was savoring these feelings because he knew that they would be his sanctuary when he reaches the Afterlife.

Because he knew that once there, he would need every little feeling and memory of his light to hold onto.

He could only snuggle closer to his soul mate. He could smell his musky scent, feel his heartbeat, loud and clear, as if his beloved's very heart was trying to give him strength.

He hoped that tomorrow would win the duel in order to free his yami and sent him to rest in peace. He knew he should. That didn't make his duty any less painful.

It was taking every inch of his strength to keep his mouth shut and say that he didn't want to duel. That he wanted to stay in his yami's embrace.

He knew he couldn't and he wouldn't.

All he could do was lay there and cherish their last moments together.

And cherish them, he would.

He would live his life. He would live happy for him, because he knew that this was what he yami wanted. He would live and he knew that when the time came, he would go to the Afterlife and join his yami for eternity.

This was the only bright spot in his sadness.

He would live.

He would wait.

And when the time came they would be together for eternity.

Valkyria: I know it is not my best work but I hope it turned out alright. Author's block is a bitch. Anyway if you liked even a bit please review.
