This is just a short story I wrote after viewing a video on youtube. I am also posting this to assure whatever readers are watching me and my Rise of the Chosen story that I have not vanished off the face of the Earth. Consider this a brief reminder that I'm still here, and still writing, albeit at a somewhat slowed pace.

Legend of the GBD
X stood before the small grave silently, a lone figure in the center of a sea of simple headstones.
It was here that the countless reploids who had died in the Maverick Wars were remembered. Since reploid bodies were usually rebuilt into new reploids, or dismantled for components, there was no need for a grave. Instead, a simple headstone was placed into this vast, but neat cemetery. Many of them were placed right next to one another, in short, neat rows and columns, permitting room for hundreds, if not thousands of markers in just a few hundred square feet. And despite the countless number of markers, there was still a great deal of room for more.
Which, in X's mind, was not a good omen for future events.
X made it a habit to come to this place every year, in order to remind himself of how horrible those wars were. Of how many people, humans and reploids alike, had been sacrificed for him and his allies to claim victory over their enemies.
Walking slowly between the numerous rows and columns, he'd caught sight of several names that he, personally knew of. Some of them he'd personally killed. Admittedly, those few had been mavericks themselves, but he knew that was a poor excuse, and as such it did little to settle the guilt that coiled around his heart whenever he thought about it.
Some of them he knew merely by reputation, but others, he'd been close to on a personal level. A handful of names leapt out at him.
Iris and Colonel, whose names were right next to one another, shared a handful of bright red flowers probably laid there by a certain red reploid X was familiar with.
Dr. Doppler, who'd given his life in a desperate attempt to destroy Sigma using a potent antivirus.
Red, the leader of the independent security force Red Alert, who'd been Axl's mentor and friend before he'd been corrupted by Sigma.
X had even managed a faint laugh at the slightly larger headstone near the front of the graveyard, which read, "Zero: Has shamelessly cheated death the following number of times", followed by several marks scratched into the surface with a Z-Saber.
But X always found himself stopping in front of one headstone in particular. It belonged to a reploid that X did not know. X had never known his name. But that reploid had given his life for him, distracting the mavericks long enough for X to slip inside their defenses. X had searched through countless Maverick Hunter records, but he'd never found any reference to the reploid.
And yet, X knew that he would probably have died long ago had it not been for that reploid. And when the cemetery was finally created during the fifth Maverick War, he'd petitioned for the nameless reploid to have a spot amongst the fallen.
Although in retrospect, he probably shouldn't have asked Zero to write the eulogy.
Here lies a reploid who has no name, yet bore the courage to yield his life for another. Let his actions be remembered by those who will never know him. Let us remember that his actions, small though they may be, saved the lives of countless others.
His name is forgotten, but his actions can never be.
Let his sacrifice be told in stories and legends.
Let history remember the Green Biker Dude.
AN: For those of you wondering, the GBD is the reploid you see get blown up in the intro scene of Megaman X2.
