Author's Note: Well guys… This is it. This is the end. I have enjoyed writing this story and I have extremely enjoyed reading through all of the comments that you have left. Thank you so much for staying with me until the very end and I do hope that we can do this again someday. I don't know what story I will be working on in the future, but when I do start writing again, I hope that you guys read it and enjoy it as much as you did with A Familiar Pattern. You are all awesome! Keep writing and reading, all of you!

Also, did you guys know that fanfictionnet and fanfiction is mentioned numerously in today's reading development textbooks for college teacher-students? No joke! I'm a teacher and I read it in my textbook! It is stressed that ALL types of reading and writing is good for children. So reading and writing fanfiction is a valid literary practice. Keep that in mind for your own children in the future.

Good night, everybody!

A Familiar Pattern

Epilogue

"And that is how I met your mother," Justin declared as he addressed his son and daughter at the front of the tiny classroom. The rest of the robed students ooh'd and aah'd at the retelling of his life, and his cheek started reddening with embarrassment.

Twelve years had passed since that fateful day when he and Harper finally reconciliated, and not a day passed by without his appreciating every aspect of her presence in his life. He had lived fulfillingly with her by his side, as evidenced by the first signs of gray hair appearing atop his head and the wrinkles forming underneath his eyes. He loved her, and he made sure to let her know that every day that he was with her.

"And then you got married, Headmaster-Daddy?" his ten-year-old daughter asked from her seat. Her wavy jet-black hair matched that of her father's', and her green eyes shone brightly as she looked expectantly at him.

"No, Alexa," he answered. "Not until a year later. We had a small ceremony in New York. Only family and close friends were invited. Your mother also insisted on preserving Nana Franny's brooch so we bought ourselves matching wedding bands."

"And then you had me, and named me after Aunt Alex and Grandma Elaine."

"That's right."

"Alexa Rose Elena Russo!" she declared with a grin.

Justin chuckled. "Correct, sweetie."

"That's so stupid!" his eleven-year-old son exclaimed. His bushy auburn hair bounced as he made wild gestures with his arms. "I would never give up my powers for a girl!"

"Ooh! Stupid is a bad word! He said a bad word!" another student from the back of the class yelled out.

Justin looked at his son sternly. "Jeremy Martin Russo. What did I say about that word?"

His son looked dejectedly to the floor. "It's a mean word, and it's inappropriate to use at anytime."

"Good. Now I don't want to hear you say that word ever again," Justin reprimanded. "Besides, if I hadn't given up my powers, then I wouldn't have been able to marry your mother, and you and your sister wouldn't have been born."

"Headmaster?" a tall boy from the back row raised his hand. "My dad said that you became Headmaster of WizTech because you paid the Council to let you stay here. Is that true?"

Justin frowned. "That's quite an accusation, Carter. Who is your father again?"

"Jerko Phoenix, sir."

A light bulb lit in Justin's head as recognition struck. He moved slowly to sit on the edge of his desk as he remembered the competitions that he had against Jerko Phoenix and the many times that he defeated him, despite Jerko's attempts to cheat. "Kindly tell your father that he is required to meet with me at noon tomorrow. Okay?" he said. A meeting with Jerko would do good to remind him who controls his son's academic future.

"Um, o-okay, sir," Carter stuttered.

Justin offered a kind smile in an attempt to mend the poor boy's discomfort. "Actually, the controversy regarding my position in this school will be covered in your Magical History of the 21st Century class, but I suppose there is no harm in summarizing that particular dispute now," he said. "When I discussed the surrender of my powers, the council was especially upset and demanded that I provide an explanation; which I did. They did not approve, but I was insistent on going through with my decision. The council was confident that I was just experiencing a momentary lapse in judgement, so they agreed to a temporary confiscation of my powers. When I proposed to my now-wife of over twelve years, the council realized that I did not plan on becoming a Wizard again, and that I was also potentially going to leave the Wizards world forever."

All eyes were on Justin as he retold the story of his position. His own daughter and son looked at him with absolute awe.

"Professor Crumbs, who was the Headmaster that preceded me and also held a huge influence in the decisions of the council, argued that my talents and knowledge of anything that is Wizards-related was just too valuable to be let go. Chancellor Rudy Tootietootie also agreed. After a series of deliberations that lasted for many months, it was finally decided that I should maintain my position here at WizTech and also serve as a Senior Consultant for the Council, with the agreement that I always have a Wizard-escort to perform necessary magic if needed. I, of course, insisted that I choose my own escort and that is why Mr. Normous is always by my side at all times," Justin concluded with a gesture to Hugh, who was seated at the back of the class.

Justin's children quickly turned around to wave at him. "Hi, Uncle Hugh," Alexa waved, to which Hugh enthusiastically waved back.

Suddenly, a large transparent bubble appeared near Justin's head. He turned towards it to see the face of the school's secretary smiling at him.

"Headmaster," the kind elderly woman said. "Mrs. Russo is here to see you. Where should I send her?"

"Thank you, Dolores," he answered. "East Wing, please. Third floor. Three-six-two."

"Oh," Hugh suddenly exclaimed from the back of the room. "I'll get her!"

Hugh stood from his seat and waved his wand, despite the apparent protest voiced from the bubble and from Justin. A flash of bright white light shone from the tip of Hugh's wand. It shot out towards the empty space next to him and, within a mere second, the light dissipated to reveal a panicked Harper Russo in mid-scream. She instantly halted her screaming as she took in the sight around her and the surprised children who stared wide-eyed at her.

"Quick, someone x-ray me and make sure my spleen didn't move five inches to the left," she said as calmly as she possibly could, though the tremble of her hands was quite obvious.

Justin immediately walked towards her, all the while glaring at Hugh, and pulled her into a hug. "I'm sure you're fine, sweetie," he assured her.

Hugh looked sheepishly at them. "I apologize, Harper. I- uh- totally forgot that you-"

"Don't like being flashed? Yeah, thanks," Harper retorted.

"Hugh," Justin started. "Next time, please wait for me to approve any magic that involves my wife before you actually do anything. We've discussed this before, remember?"

"Yes, Justin, uh, sir. Right. Sorry," he looked dejectedly at the floor.

Justin smiled at him. "No harm done, Hugh. Thank you." He turned his complete attention to Harper and smiled at her. She had aged, just like him, but it seemed like she aged much more gracefully than he did. Slight lines appeared on her face whenever she smiles, her hair had lightened from an auburn color to a shade of crimson, and, as she was no longer so concerned of her body weight, the curves of her body had become much more evident than it used to be. That particular factor of her physical progression was probably Justin's favorite. Being able to hold her and not have to worry about hurting her fragile body was an absolute relief; not to mention the fact that he loved the sensation that he got from holding her soft and curvy body against his own in their moments of passion. "What are you doing here? I thought you were busy organizing your new stores in Hong Kong?"

"I was, but you forgot your cellphone at home," she answered as she pulled out the object from her purse.

"Thanks!" Justin grinned like a child as he took the phone from her and pocketed it. "What would I do without you?"

"Let's not speculate such a ridiculous notion," she quipped.

"Mom! Mom!" Alexa called out and waved with glee.

All of the students in the room started waving at the infamous Mrs. Russo, which prompted Justin to dismiss his class early along with Hugh and the school secretary through the bubble. Once Justin and Harper were alone, Justin didn't waste time with pleasantries and instead enveloped Harper in a tight embrace and kissed her like there was no tomorrow. Harper was momentarily taken aback but soon matched his enthusiasm with her own.

When it seemed like they were dangerously reaching a new level of high, Harper gently placed a hand on Justin's chest and lightly pushed away from him. He reluctantly released her but not before placing a memorable suckle on her bottom lip. "Wow," she whispered as she looked into his eyes, analyzing to still-present lust in them. "What was that for?"

Justin grinned at her. "I just love you, that's all."

Harper smiled at him, and Justin couldn't help but see the same smile that she had always reserved just for him, even when they were little kids. "I love you too, Sweetie. I love you too."
