I'll come to your funeral

Snow fluttered down from the sky on a cloudy day. A small gray robot stood with his head bowed, his hands clasping a single black rose. Blue tears were rolling down his metal face, his small body trembling with grief and pain.

"Why, my beautiful? Why did you have to leave me?" the SIR unit cried. "D-did I do s-something wrong?"

A snow flurry landed on Gir's shoulder and he was sent into a flashback.

Flashback:

Gir is standing eagerly at the end of the long aisle. He nervously shifts from one small foot to the other. He has a small black tux on for the occasion. He sees his Master sitting in the front row of chairs with Tak. They are the only two people there but Gir doesn't care.

Slowly, the huge mahogany doors open and there stands a SIR unit disguised as a slender black she-cat. Gir's heart skips a beat as his beautiful fiancé begins to walk down the wedding aisle.

"Wow." the priest whispers. Gir barely hears him for his blue eyes are trained on Mimi.

She had insisted on wearing her disguise, although Gir couldn't see why, assuming that Master Zim would erase the priest's memory. Then he remembered that the priest was the bigheaded kid that Master had tormented when they were younger.

Mimi wasn't wearing a dress or anything, which Gir found as odd. When Mimi finally reached the end of the aisle her eyes met Gir's. And then suddenly, her wardrobe changed. In a flash she was her undisguised self, wearing but a pale creamy dress. Gir could only stare, dumbfounded. He didn't think that was possible!

Mimi just smiles and her red eyes soften as he gently takes her hand in his.

"We are gathered here today, to bring these two…um…robots together." Dib states. "Gir, do you take…Mimi to be your lawfully wedded wife? To have and to hold 'til death do you part?"

"I do." Gir vows.

"And do you, Mimi, take this man as your husband?" Mimi nods, too choked up to speak.

"Then I now pronounce you two, Man and Wife. Or…Robot and Robot? No, that's not good. Hmm…maybe SIR unit to Robot? Or alien to OW!" Dib's muttering is cut off as Zim shoots him with his laser. Gir smiles and leans forward to kiss Mimi.

The kiss is tender and perfect. They stand there, kissing, as the church bell rings and snow falls from the sky and lands softly on the Earth; it makes it seem as if Earth is a planet covered in a white soft blanket.

End of flashback.

Gir remembered that day perfectly. 'Til death do us part…Gir thought sadly. He reached out and gently touched the casket in front of him. He placed the rose in the hands of his dead.

Mimi had been deactivated in a war between the Resisty. Gir had tried to save her but it was too late. Gir sobbed and fell to his knees.

"I'm at you're funeral, Mimi. Remember when I told you that if ever something would happen to you, I would go to your funeral? You said that to me too. I'm here now, my sweet. Go peacefully." He whispered.

He was the only one there. No one was there with him. Master Zim and Ms. Tak were long gone. For the first time ever in his entire life, Gir was utterly and heartbreakingly alone.

As Gir stood up the snow fell slightly harder. He gazed at his loved one and placed a hand on her cold, metal cheek.

"I will find out who did this to you, Mimi. I will not stop until I do. I will avenge your death, no matter what." His eyes grew a duty-red, which they hadn't been in a long time.

He looked into the loving face of his dead wife. "And then, my precious Mimi, I will join you in Heaven."

His eyes still red and burning with a newly found hatred, Gir turned and began to walk down a dark road. Away from his dead wife, away from her funeral.

Away from everything he had ever loved.
