Il Mio Tesoro

Kings have fallen for far less. To him, she was greater than any amount of gold or jewels. His battle for her life was always with outsiders who wished to bring her harm, but the battle for her love was with himself. Two sides, one tied to the past, one tied to her, his treasure.

Gamma was no king. He followed her loyally, protected her faithfully, and loved her unconditionally. He owned her not; instead, she was supreme and commanded him, claiming him, without ever needing to say so. He was a pillar, standing tall and strong, not to protect a temple, for a temple she was not. She instead was the marbled goddess standing atop the pillar, offering herself to the heavens. So close, closer than he could ever be. The pillar and the goddess, neither using the other, but working together to brush their fingers against the sky.

He prayed the heavens wouldn't take her away from him.

A muffled cry came from one of the two figures upon the bed. Writhing, desperately clutching the body above her, strands black hair splayed over the crumpled pillow. Eyes blue as kingfishers, dark with passion and fear.

What was there to fear?

She could see things he could not. A future devoid of one another. Feelings of love, turned to hate. A bittersweet end. There were pleasant futures, as well, but her heart was more sensitive to the pain and loneliness.

Things she saw and he could not. He wanted her heart and all of it's fears. It was a treasure, and Gamma wanted to protect it forever. His body was her sword and his soul was her shield, defending her always.

This he thought, as he brought his trembling hands to caress her skin. Pale in the moonlight, soft, covering a soul that was just as nervous as he. The sound of her body squirming on thin bed sheets, the piercing of her slightly sharp nails on the back of his neck; sensations he moment, his treasure. His goddess, his princess. A treasure never to be forgotten in his heart.

Gently, gently. Making their bodies one, against protests of pain in the back of their minds. Mingling of breaths and vocalized pleasures. In the night, in the house forgotten and bare save for them and the creeping souls of the past, she could whisper her love and her fears in the same frantic breath. The same breath elicited by him pressing against her heat, capturing her lips in a kiss and releasing them all too soon. He wanted her.

He wanted her. Rhythmic movements causing the two to bite back groans and speed their pace.

He wanted her. The feel of her legs weakening but holding him in, keeping him inside of her.

He wanted her. The sound of her, murmuring his name. The sound it had was unfamiliar to him. He doubted anyone would ever say it the way she did.

He wanted her, knowing it was he who belonged to her. Knowing he could try with all his might, but she would not be able to stay for long in his arms. And knowing that this moment, so precious and ephemeral, was a treasure.

A treasure that he must bring himself to let go. Like so many kings who have fallen trying in vain to preserve their grasp, he knows he has to say goodbye.

Lest the pillar break under the weight of love for the goddess, tearing her down from the heavens.

A/N: Hi everyone! I'm here again with another Gamma/Uni fic. I seriously love this pairing so much. I'm sure you all can tell by now! My other stories so far have been mainly Uni's POV, so I wanted to write one about what Gamma probably thinks. I would love it if you reviewed and told me what you thought of it! =)
