Disclaimer: Neither The Chronicles of Narnia nor Dark is Rising Sequence belong to me. Also, I am flat broke; no good will come of suing me.

"Why?' She sobbed at the figure coming up behind her. "Why take them and not me?"

"Your work in this place is not yet done."

"What use could this world possibly have for Susan Pevensie; or is it Queen Susan, the Gentle?" She sneered, turning to face the Great Lion.

"The Dark is rising. I would have you stand as a Guardian for the Light."

"Any one of the others would have been better suited."

"You underestimate your worth."

"My brothers are . . .were wise leaders, warriors several times over and Lucy, Valiant Lucy, was all but MADE of light!"

"Those qualities that you so readily see in others are also in you. However, it is your gift of guidance that recommends you to this task. There were many times, both in this world and the other, that you were without an answer, yet still able to find the correct path.

"A guardian is not simply a warrior, they are a protector. How many times was there a call to arms that you declined? You stayed behind so that life would continue as normal. So that when your siblings returned home, it would all be as it should.

"This is what I call you to be. Protector, teacher, warrior, counselor, compass. Mother, sister, friend. All that I have shown you, all that I have asked of you was in preparation of this task."

"I don't think I can do it on my own."

"My daughter, do you really think I would you to stand alone?"

"I am afraid."

"Of course you are. It is no small thing I ask of you, but a heavy burden"

"You will take care of the others for me?"

"Worry not child, I will look after them."

Susan Pevensie wiped her eyes, Queen Susan rising up from the crumpled girl to stand before Aslan. "Then, let not my hands be idle, but filled with this task you have prepared for me."

AN: Just in case I wasn't clear, Susan becomes The Lady. I had this epiphany while writing What the Heart Knows. (This is that other crossover I was telling you about.)

Aw, shucks! I really wanted this to be posted on 8-9-10. Oh, well.
