So I'm trying my hand at a Rizzoli & Isles romance fic. Duh duh duh! Don't be too harsh, please. I'm not quite sure if I got their voices right, but I tried.
"Antimatter," lectured Dr. Isles, space scientist (or so Jane called her when she was teasing her), "exists when any particle meets its antiparticle and they are both annihilated. In this case, energy is released in the form of gamma radiation."
Korsak yawned and Frost nodded politely, but disinterestedly. They weren't a very good audience, Jane thought to herself. She could be a much better audience.
"The theory of antimatter was first –" Maura looked up as Jane cleared her throat, looking irritated at having been so rudely interrupted. "What?"
Jane raised an eyebrow. "Frost, there's a bunch of paperwork I got tired of doing sitting on your desk. It's your turn." That wasn't really why she'd come here, but it was a good pretense.
It was attestation to how Maura was boring him that he jumped up and agreed as if she'd asked him to come to a movie with her. "I'll go with him," volunteered Korsak, and the two men quickly left the room.
Jane rolled her eyes. "Men."
Maura sighed. "Oh, no. Not this again."
Jane shook her head, crossing her arms defiantly over her chest. "I may not be as smart as you are, but can I take a stab at an easy definition for antimatter?"
Maura quirked an eyebrow, but then she shrugged. "Go ahead."
Their only captive audience was deceased, after all. Jane leaned forward and crashed her lips against Maura's, pulling the other woman close as she did so. She'd wanted to do this ever since she'd met Maura, and it felt so good. Aside from which, Maura's initial resistance made it all so much sweeter when she finally leaned in and deepened the kiss – effectively proving Jane's point about antimatter. Well, at least partially, because this beautiful woman was going to destroy her.
Surprise registered on Maura's face and once she finally managed to get the arousal that soared through her body under control, she attempted to calm her raging emotions. Lust was an unfamiliar feeling for the distinguished Dr. Isles, and she was sure that Jane was going to be the death of her. She had to calm herself down. Her face red as a beet, Maura began, "Actually, I believe the scientific term for that is –"
"Maura?" interrupted Jane, exasperated that Maura had misinterpreted – or pretended to misinterpret at any rate – her advances. She would have to spell it out, then.
Maura looked a bit annoyed at not being able to finish her explanation. "What?"
"Shut up and kiss me."
