I was listening to this song on the bus when this idea suddenly came to me. I haven't written Yugioh in a really long time (several years), but when I thought of this Bakura seemed to be the perfect character for the role.

Sorry if anyone is out of character. Like I said, it's been several years. Enjoy!

Disclaimer: If Yugioh belonged to me, it would have died long before it was complete, rather like my other fics and my Fanfiction account.

Disclaimer 2: The song "Don't Matter" belongs to Akon. I just borrowed it for this plot.

(Oh yes. About the other fics; I really can't continue them right now because of a major life crisis: National Examinations which will ultimately determine my future. I wrote this because it was a definite one-shot, and thought that it might help to relieve stress.)

Don't Matter

It was stuck in his head, going round and round. He wasn't sure about the words in the middle, but the chorus was crystal clear. Oddly enough, even though he found these modern songs so irritating, it seemed strangely fitting to his situation now.

How did it go again? Da-da-da… Oh yeah.

Bakura hummed aloud as the words ran in his head. Ryou would have found it weird that he knew this song, especially after his constant declarations of hatred for all things modern. But Ryou had no say now. This was his ground, his game, his rules. If he wanted to sing the alphabet backwards, then by Ra he would.

"Nobody wanna see us together, but it don't matter, no."

He allowed a line to escape his lips as he wandered the dark plain of the Shadow Realm, keeping an eye out for his host's consciousness. Perhaps that mysterious purple shadow ahead was him?

Bakura leapt forward and stretched out his hand, only to find that the shadow was nothing more than swirling purple darkness. Oh well. It was only a matter of time.

Around him, dark giants suddenly loomed, surrounding him. He did not have to touch them to know that they were replicas of the buildings in Domino City, just shrouded in the purple mist so characteristic of the Shadow Realm. He had arranged it that way, because it made everything so much more fun.

"Ryou? Where are you, my host?"

Silence answered him. Bakura shrugged and headed into the heart of the 'city'. He was not sure where Ryou was exactly, but there was always an internal compass that pointed the way.

"Nobody wanna see us together, but it don't matter, no."

Once again, Bakura appreciated how accurate those words were. Time after time, everyone had tried to separate him from his host, despite the fact that they were perfect for each other. They had thrown out the Ring, had isolated Ryou, had even tried taking him to a holy priest. All to no avail, of course.

But none of that mattered. They were still together, despite all their vigorous efforts. He allowed himself a victory smirk as he found himself outside a church. Of course.

As he let himself into the building, Bakura cheered. Ryou had been rather rebellious lately. Speaking out of turn, disagreeing with him, even going so far as to complain about him behind his back! Hosts were not meant to act that way, and needed to be put into place when they stepped out of line.

Shivering in a pew, half conscious, was none other than Ryou. He was still oblivious to the evil atmosphere that had suddenly taken over the church.

Bakura was glad he had been so easy to find. Sometimes, the hunt was half the fun, but today, he felt more in the mood for punishing disobedient little hosts.

'Nobody wanna see us together, but it don't matter, no, cause'

"I got you."
