Note: For pokeprompts' prompt #3, A ship in a harbour is safe, but that's not why ships are built.
only for a while, now
Leaf never visits her home (anymore). Pallet Town is too large for only her, (and everybody important is already long gone to places like Mt. Silver or Viridian City) and the gossip her mother spreads to her every time she gives in and does come back after all is the same as the one from the last time she was here. The village is unchanging and Leaf is, too, in her want (need) for change.
Leaf sometimes visits Green, when she's in the vicinity (or simply in the mood). It's fun to catch up with him in more ways than one and not always only for old times' sake.
He's still a prick, still irritable, and still the most tender one of the three of them, and Leaf enjoys this, although she wonders how he manages not to break.
Leaf always leaves faster than she's come, because Green needs her (someone, anyone) and she doesn't.
"Don't go," he says, his voice for once matching the lonely grey in his eyes, as she is about to close the door behind her.
"I can't," she says, exhales, inhales and doesn't turn around. "I thought you out of all people would know."
He doesn't answer that. He's been on that mountain too often, Leaf thinks and knows why she never went. She can feel his gaze boring through her back into her lungs, while a soft breeze is tugging at the hem of her skirt invitingly. Her eyes sting. She shuts the door quietly.
FIN.
