My Team

At night
when they are all
asleep I go to their huts
and look inside on
their sleeping faces.
While I did not give
birth do them
they are still
my children

First is Kwame
he isn't the oldest
but he is the most
level headed therefore
he leads the team.
I know he doesn't think
of himself as a leader
but the best leaders
are sometimes
the ones that never
asked for the job

Then there is wheeler
he has one of
the biggest personalities
and shortest tempers
of the team.
I often wonder if
he enjoys annoying
Linka just to see
how she will react
and it always
blows up in his face

Then there is Linka
her temper is as bad as
Wheeler's and that is
one of the
many reasons they
don't always get along.
He is immature
at times and she has
trouble tolerating that
since he is technically
the oldest of the team
but she can be almost endlessly
patient at other times
thus making me think
it is only Wheeler
she has trouble with.

That is when I come to
Gi the quieter girl
she is a willing ear to her
friends, with the patients
to mediate between
her teammates when
needed, but her patients
evaporates all too quickly
when marine life or children
are in danger.
She is also very
easily angered when
her teammates are
accused falsely

Finally there is Ma-Ti
he is the youngest of
my planeteers
he seems like a
rather mature
youth but he is
just 12 years old.
He is innocent and
sometimes a bit naïve
but he is
sweet and kind
and gives me hope
for the future
of this world.

I leave them to sleep
thinking that I was
lucky to have them
fighting for mm e
then I remember
there is one more member
to this team
Captain Planet
he has the powers of
all five rings magnified
and a bad sense
of humor
but he makes up for that
in so many ways

That is my team
I wouldn't change them
even if I could
