Uncool, Maka

I kept my head bowed, as I cried with my hand pressed to his chest. I could feel his scar through his shirt, and that just made my guilt worse.

I heard him sigh deeply and watched his hands sink deeper into his front pockets.

"Uncool, Maka…"

I stiffened slightly, and started to pull my hand back, keeping my head bowed. Before I could fully pull away though, one of his hands snatched my own trembling one back, and held it.

"It's not your fault."

'Oh…Soul…'

I still refused to look up at him, but I gripped his hand tighter.

"If I wasn't so weak, I could have protected myself, and then you wouldn't have been hurt!" My voice cracked slightly, and I trembled as more tears slipped down my heated cheeks.

He sighed again, before suddenly yanking me forward so I found myself pressed to his chest, and before I could stop myself, I was looking up, and staring into his crimson eyes.

Soul sighed once more, before frowning and pulling his other hand out his pocket to scratch his snowy head.

"As your weapon, it's my job to protect my meister. If you were that strong, then you'd have no need for me anymore. And that would be really uncool."

Soul stopped scratching his head, and wrapped his arm around me, pulling me closer, and tucking my head under his chin.

Despite my tears, which I found were still falling, I smiled slightly.

"I know…but I still wish you hadn't gotten hurt. It's all my fault, you're gonna have that scar forever as a reminder…and it's all my fault."

My smile fell, and the tears began to well up in my eyes again, blurring my sight.

Soul Hugged me tighter. "It was my decision. I wanted to protect you, I'd be nothing with out you, so it's fine. If I hadn't taken that hit, something far worse would have happened to you, and I would feel a whole lot worse than you do now." He paused for a moment, before speaking again; this time I could hear the smirk in hid voice. "Besides, now I got a really cool battle scar, and a cool story to go with it."

He stepped away from me, still holding my hand, and then began to brush my tears away using his other hand.

When all my tear were cleared, and I could see his face again, laughter bubbled up out of me, after I got a look at the proud, sharp-toothed grin he gave me.

Soul chuckled a little before saying. "That's better…I get to see a smile now..it's been a while since you've given me one of those." Soul's grin grew wider, as he squeezed my hand, making me blush. "Any more tears, and I don't know what I would have done with my self."

I looked away as my blush slowly grew a shade darker.

"Let's go home now."

I said nothing when he finally released my hand, and instead slung his arm around my shoulders, pulling me forward.

"From now on…" I looked up at him as we emerged from the alley and into the drooling afternoon sun, on the near empty streets. "No more tears…they make me feel uncool, Maka."

As Soul pulled me closer to his body, I wiped the last of my tears away, grinning.

"Kay."

A.N./ Well, that's it. A short (hopefully cute), little one-shot that I wrote in my study hall today. There's not much of a point to this, I just really liked this scene in the anime, I of course, decided to change it up though. I hope you enjoyed.
