Canada sighed and stared blankly at his paperwork. This work is what kept him at the office rather than at the airport picking up his boyfriend. He glanced at the clock; Prussia's plane should be landing soon. Just as he resolved to return to his paperwork, his phone sounded out its text message tune. He sighed again and pulled out his cell phone.
"May have caused an international incident. More details after we taxi in.
From: Gilbert Beilschmidt"
Canada nearly dropped his phone in shock. He immediately tried to call Prussia but the call went to his voicemail. What an idiot! What did he do to cause an international incident? Despite the fact that Canada could get Prussia out of almost anything in the country, he still shouldn't -
Wait. What if Prussia wasn't in Canada? What if what he had done was so bad that the plane was forced to land early and he was in some other country?
Canada rushed through his paperwork (his boss would probably kill him if it was left unfinished) while thinking of all the countries Prussia's flight took him through and if he had any favors he could call in with those countries. With a hurried signature, he gathered all his finished work, grabbed his briefcase and hacked and rushed to his boss' office. He left the papers with his boss' secretary assuring her that he had "absolutely no time to visit with the Prime Minister, maybe next time" as he hurried out of the office and to his car.
After taking a few deep breaths and reminding himself that being pulled over for speeding or reckless driving would not help him bust Prussia out of jail, Canada managed to get himself to the airport without incident. He found Prussia's flight number on the arrivals board and saw that it had indeed landed.
Thankful for his influence within his country - even if he had none in international affairs - Canada made it to the gate in record time. He arrived just as the first passengers were getting off the plane. If Prussia had been arrested, they would have escorted him off first, right? What was the procedure for mid-air arrests? As Canada tried to remember his country's airplane security procedures, someone grabbed him from behind. Jumping and stifling a yelp, Canada turned around to find Prussia grinning at him.
"I thought you had to work," he said.
"I made sure to finish when I thought you had been arrested," Canada replied. "What international incident did you maybe cause?"
Prussia had the courtesy to look sheepish. "Well, there may have been some translation issues with an attendant."
"And who was having the issues?" Canada asked, even though he was fairly sure he already knew the answer.
"I've been speaking French for hundreds of years," Prussia said with a pout. "She obviously needs to study more."
Canada gave his boyfriend a seductive smile. "Maybe I can give you a few tips on the Québécois tongue?" He licked his lips, causing Prussia to tighten his grip on his backpack.
"Can I get some tips now?" Prussia asked, unconsciously leaning towards the Canadian.
"At home," Canada replied, backing away from Prussia.
With a trademark Prussia grin, he grabbed his boyfriend's hand to drag him out of the airport and towards the Canadian's home so he could begin his lessons.
