That day my heart was broken all apart, erupting without making a sound.
No matter how many times she shook him, Soul would not respond to Maka's increasingly desperate screams. Soul's eyes remained shut, even as Maka felt her heart shatter. She wondered how no one could hear her heart erupting when it was so loud in her ears.
So many times I cried and mourned, unfading memories I wish were gone.
Maka remembered when she and Soul had fought against Chrona. Soul had lunged in front of her to save her from the demon sword's deadly bite.
"As a weapon, I'm always prepared to die for my meister," he'd said as his crimson blood pooled around him. The tears ran down Maka's face, and she wished she could forget that day, wipe it from her memory, but the scene replayed in her mind, refusing to fade.
I ran out of tears but the darkness that remains now flows through.
The rain started suddenly. It ran down Maka's face, erasing the tears that had been streaming there only moments before. Something in Maka's eyes changed, and she straightened out her shoulders. She gently set Soul to the side, then stood up, prepared to defeat this enemy at any cost. She felt the black blood claiming her, but she put up no resistance, encouraging it to flow. As the black blood coursed through her veins, she felt it awaken the weapon blood that had lain dormant, only once before having been called upon.
Moving on I see tomorrow brings a world without colors or hues.
The color in Maka's eyes drained, leaving the once vibrant eyes nothing more than monochromatic spheres. The color from her figure continued to drain away. As her clothes were leeched of their color, they turned into the black blood dress she had once worn in Soul's mind. Maka stepped forward, and as she did so, all the color in her surroundings was lost, leaving everything in shades of black and gray.
I'm looking forward to the day of my atonement. Even now I'm just only living knowing what I've got to lose.
Maka stirred as she thought of everyone she loved. Momma. Papa. Kidd. Black Star. Tsubaki. Liz. Patti. The thought of them made her fight against the madness, and for a second, just a second, Maka was herself oncemore.
Having now embraced hoplessness, fighting still when I'm alone.
Maka glanced to the side, where she had set had set her partner. Soul. The sight of his cold, lifeless body was a knife to her heart. Soul meant everything to Maka. He was her sun, her heart, her world. Without Soul, everything was meaningless. Realizing this, Maka gave up whatever feeble resistance she had before, and she welcomed the madness. The black blood coursing through her system, Maka threw aside any thought of her loved ones. Cold, wet, and empty, Maka fought on, lost to the black blood, forever alone.
