Sam looked up from his research as Dean approached the picnic table, their lunches on a tray. He couldn't help but grin, they made such an odd pair; Dean with his usual swagger, the little black ball of fluff at his heels, tail wagging back and forth happily.

"Sometimes," Sam observed, as he picked Lucky up and placed him on the table, "I swear you think you're a dog." Lucky chirruped at that, sounding a little miffed.

"Think you just insulted him, Sam," Dean noted, taking his seat and unwrapping his burger.

Sam cocked his head, and lightly tickled Lucky under the chin, trying to coax out a purr. "Is Dean right, Lucky? You're not mad at me, are you?"

The cat humphed a little, and Dean snorted around his french fries.

Sam took the slices of chicken off the top of his salad, put them in the plastic cover, and placed them in front of Lucky.

"There," he said, adding in a dose of Puppy Eyes for good measure. "Am I forgiven now?"

Lucky looked at the makeshift plate, full of chickeney yumminess, and he purred, a deep, thrumming sound of utter joy. He awarded Sam a look of utter love and made his way close enough to stretch up and nuzzle Sam's cheek.

Sam beamed while Dean rolled his eyes. "You're spoiling him," he said, but there was no rancor in his voice.

His brother shrugged, picking up his fork to dig into the rest of the salad, while Lucky was doing his level best to make the chicken disappear.

"I like spoiling him," Sam replied. He'd been planning to give Lucky the chicken, anyway.

Dean was the first to notice the writing on the napkin, the white square of paper tucked under his drink. He picked it up and looked at it.

A very feminine scrawl read "Your kitty's sooo cute!" along with a name – Sherri.

He turned and looked back at a waving, smiling brunette standing by the small restaurant's door.

Dean looked back at the paper, a grin on his full lips, then he looked over at Lucky. The cat was daintily cleaning paws, but he ceased when Dean reached over and gave him a fond scritch between the ears.

"Good boy, Lucky," Dean said, tossing Sam a wink "now if you two will excuse me, I'm off to be a bad boy." With that, he got up from the table and sauntered over to the young woman, his whole being radiating the aura of Dean Winchester on the prowl.

Sam watched his brother head off for another conquest, and he shook his head with a smile. Some things never changed. Lucky walked over and sat right in from of Sam, and reached out to bat at Sam's long hair, the cat's favorite toy.

"Meow?" Lucky questioned, purring when Sam picked him up and cradled him in his arms.

"You know something, Lucky?" he said, "I know where you learned to act like a dog."
