WHY ME?
Summary: Gaara wishes he didn't have to constantly overhear Temari and Kankuro's arguments...
It was safe to say that the Sand siblings had gotten along fairly well since returning home from the Chunin exams. Like all siblings, of course, there were still arguments, but they weren't nearly as dangerous as they once had been. For the first time, the youngest of the three was beginning to take a genuine interest in his brother and sister.
And now that he'd taken time to notice them, Gaara was learning new things about his siblings all the time. He found the two fascinating. For instance, due to their personalities, Temari and Kankuro were prone to arguing. All the time.
Gaara had been off training by himself, as he did every morning. Temari and Kankuro usually practiced with each other though they were decidedly more ruthless than most, especially so when they were pitted against each other.
Anyway, though he was no longer their squad leader, Baki had suggested that they attempt some Taijutsu instead of relying solely on their weapons. Gaara himself took no heed. He already knew he was terrible at it, not that anyone dare ask. But his brother and sister had decided to try if only to humor their old sensei.
Today Gaara had finished mysteriously earlier than the other two. He came out of his room just as they entered the house. (Which was really more of a mansion considering it had belonged to the Kazekage last.) Unsurprisingly, they were arguing about something unknown to him. However, he had grown used to the sound of their raised voices, and if his experience from all the other times was worth anything, he was sure the current topic of debate wouldn't be a mystery for long.
The only difference was that this time Kankuro seemed genuinely upset while Temari appeared to be trying to hold back laughter. Gaara stayed hidden by the stairway. He wasn't sure he wanted to be a part of this conversation, but it couldn't hurt to listen, right?
"That was not funny! Or fair!"
This time Temari did let a few chuckles through. Kankuro continued to glare. Based on this and the way Kankuro was walking, Gaara could imagine he knew pretty well where he'd been hit. He winced to himself. Having the nearly unbeatable sand shield, Gaara himself had never suffered a blow to that particular area, but he couldn't imagine it felt too pleasant.
"Oh, stop being such a baby!" Temari snapped, starting to get a little annoyed.
"It hurts! You have no idea. You are so lucky, being a girl."
"Lucky?" Temari asked, incredulous. "Try being in pain for an entire week once a month and then come complain to me!"
Gaara walked away quickly as they continued, going a bit red.
Of course she had to bring it to that!
Review please!
It hit me that I hadn't written a Sand sibs fic so I kind of wanted to... (Or a one-shot anyway.)
I don't own Naruto!
As of November 7, 2012, this has officially been revised. Thank you for all the reviews and favorites I've received thus far.
