Out across the sea I flew,

My dreams hinting at something new.

Ahead of me the sky glowed red,

And I glided towards the smoke I dread.

Making several scorching dives,

I caught many coals on the fly.

The buckets were filled,

The sun had come.

However, I felt my job

Was not yet done.

In a tree consumed by fire,

The forest's own image of hagsmire,

To a dark hollow I flew.

Peering inside,

I felt my dream come true.

The air grew hotter,

The fire more intense,

So I begged for you to fly.

I heard, "Before I join The Pure Ones,

I would rather die!"

The Fire Cycle I chose,

And recited it to her.

The brave owl soon grew calm,

And we flew off with a blur.

Back at my verdant home,

I taught you how to read.

I always sought to help you,

With anything you would need.

Mates we soon became,

Our hearts forever tied.

We brought forth three great children,

In which we hold much pride.

I will always love you,

Forever at your side.

I do not fear the day

On which we both shall die.

Together we will be,

As we are laid to rest.

In Heaven we will fly,

Joyfully with the rest...
