A/N: WOO! Another collab with ubyrai. We all know what that means... IT'S AMAZING!
Remember: Soul Eater is not mine (or ubyrai's). This lovely piece of literature is ours though and we give you permission to enjoy it.

Goggles

It had been three days since Maka was allowed to go home. Her arm was wrapped in a cast and tied around her neck as she was set free. After figuring out how to handle making dinner, doing school work and cleaning with just one hand she thought she'd be fine with three limbs. But there was one thing she hadn't counted on.

The words the doctor had said seemed harmless at the time. "Showering might be difficult. You'll have to try not to get the cast wet, so wrap it in a plastic bag."

There was no way she could wash her hair with one hand. Especially if she had to hold a plastic bag around her cast. She'd already put it off too long, she couldn't stand to go to school tomorrow and smell this bad.

There was only one option.

Soul would have to help her.

Said scythe was stuffing his face with the dinner she'd cooked (one handed) when she came into the room.

"Uhh, Soul?" His head turned, mouth still full of pasta half of it hanging out. Her face reddened as he stared.

"I need to have a shower tonight."

"Umm, ok then, why are you telling me?"

"I can't do it on my own."

"Can't do what on your own?"

"Soul! I can't take a shower on my own. I only have one arm and I have to wrap the other one in a plastic bag." His mouth dropped open, pasta falling into his lap. The penny had dropped.

"W-what?" His voice quivered.

"I really need your help." She looked away from him but in seconds her head snapped back up.

"You will NOT be naked! You have to wear bathers. I can't though... I need to be properly clean, I don't want to have to do this again. You'll have to have your eyes shut the whole time. I will tell you where to move your hands..."

"Maka!" Soul yelled.

"What?"

"I'll help you."

Maka let out a long sigh suddenly realising she'd been expecting him to say no, or at least crack some joke about there being "nothing to look at anyway".

"Now?" Asked Soul.

Maka was pulled out of her mind and back to reality by his voice. Her brain ticked over for a couple of seconds before realising that he'd asked a question.

"Umm, sure. Meet you in the bathroom." She retreated back to her room to find her towel. Everything had gone to plan. Her plan in fact. But she was still uncomfortable with it. Soul was constantly suffering from nose bleeds looking at Blair, he was too much of pervert. Maybe she could wear bathers... but what if she didn't get washed properly? It was a risk she was willing to take, the lesser of too evils. Digging through a high, long disused, shelf in her cupboard to find her bikini. Her hand instead landing on something hard. She pulled it down. Goggles.

A light bulb came on above her head.

Soul sat on the floor in front of the shower waiting for his meister to arrive. This was going to be weird and he knew it but she was starting to get a bit on the nose. Not that he'd ever say that. He just wanted to help her.

The door squeaked as she pushed it open entering the room covered only by a towel. Her hair was down now, ready to be washed, and there was something in her hand. A green something. Now Soul was just confused.

Soul stood and looked at her, brows raised. "What have you got?"

She grinned "A present!" She held out her hand with the green goggles in it. "Here.

Soul took the goggles and started to examine them. "You realise these have permanent maker coloured over the eyes?"

"Of course I do. They're for you to wear in the shower. Peak proof."

Soul frowned. He knew she thought he was a bit of a perv but he wasn't that bad. At least the goggles would make it less awkward. Accidental peeking could happen. His expression softened and gradually changed into a grin. He looked at Maka one last time then put on the googles. He took off his trackies then his shirt, wearing only board shorts.

"Let's do this."

But a new problem had been posed. Maka could still see Soul. And although all of the important parts were adequately covered, making him blind with those goggles had given her the freedom to stare. Which she immediately took advantage of.

"...Maka? You still here? Are we doing this?"

"Oh, oh yeah. Sorry. I was just getting ready." She was glad he had the goggles on as her cheeks warmed. Silently as she could, Maka slipped out of the towel. She turned on the water in the shower in tested it with her hand. Too cold.

"So, uh, what exactly am I going to be doing?"

"Right now you can help me tie this plastic bag on my arm."

Soul reached out his hands to help her, but instead heard a squeal.

"Be careful where you're putting your hands!" Maka yelled, frustrated and embarrassed. She grabbed his wrist and put his hand onto the plastic bag where he began to tie knots.

"Sorry, but I can't see!" Soul growled. She was the one who gave him the goggles after all.

Maka reached her free arm out to check the water. "Alright, water's warm," She said. She reached her arm around behind her and held onto Soul's hands, not willing to risk another near miss like before. She led him into the shower until she was positioned under the water with him behind her, finally feeling safe enough to let go of his hands.

"Now what?"

"Can you... wash my hair?" She heard him chuckle and stuck her elbow out behind her, getting him in the ribs.

"Ouch! What was that for?"

"You were laughing at me!"

"You're just being really weird!"

"I am not weird!"

"That's not what I meant, I just..."

"Soul just wash my hair."

"Fine. Can you hand me the shampoo?" She took the bottle off the shelf and dangled it over her shoulder, purposely hitting Soul on the head.

"Ouch! I thought you wanted me to help!"

She didn't reply. Soul decided to ignore her too. He poured some shampoo into his hand and tapped her arm with the bottle so she'd take it back. He reached towards her head to put to shampoo in.

"Soul...that's my back." She took his wrist and placed his hand onto her head. Once he'd located her head he lathered up the shampoo through her hair.

"Umm, Soul."

"Yeah?"

"I'm sorry, for before."

"What?"

"For ignoring you."

"I wasn't trying to call you weird."

"What were you trying to say then?" there was a little irritation in her voice, Soul made a mental note to be sensitive.

"You were just," He sucked in a deep breath, then spluttered.

"Soul? Are you ok!"

"Just, plegh, breathed in, urgh, water." he took in another breath, this one of air. "Anyway, you're shampoo's done."

"Thanks, what were you going to say?"

"Nothing. How do you wanna wash this out?"

Maka decided not to tell him the plan, she grabbed his wrist (a gesture that seemed to have become popular with her) and spun until her head was in the water.

"Maka you nearly knocked me over! Tell me when you're about to do something like that!"

"You didn't tell me what you were going to say! What should I tell you what I'm going to do?"

"I was just going to say that I didn't mean you were weird I meant you were acting weird, since when do you ask me politely to do something for you. I already agreed to help you." He knew she was annoyed at him, it was pretty obviously, but he still couldn't stop himself from arguing back.

"Well maybe you'd feel a bit weird if you were the one with the arm in a cast asking me to wash you! I should be able to do this myself!"

"I don't mind doing it for you! I wasn't trying to insult you!"

They both stopped talking. Neither knew what to say. Soul almost unconsciously started to wash the shampoo out of her hair. She sighed. A long heavy sigh.

"I'm just frustrated."

"I get it."

Another spin and Maka's hair was out of the water again. Soul was handed the conditioner, somewhat more gently than before, and he put it through her hair.

"You know you do look kinda stupid with those goggles on." Maka giggled.

"You made me wear them!" Soul teased back.

"Doesn't mean you look any less stupid." Soul was about to tickle her but realised she was naked and froze.

"You ok?"

"Yeah fine." He smiled, glad he'd remembered.

"Well I'm going to wash with soap now so stay still. I do not want to have to explain to Black Star if anything weird happens."

...

A/N: The plan was for this to be a one shot but I've already got ideas for other chapters now so look out for it :D
This was really meant to be the second chapter but I finished it first so it's here. I'll upload the other one as a prelude type of thing.
