Math Love

It was a typical Wednesday night for Kagome Higurashi. Here she was again waiting for her math tutor. She was at the local library, sitting at one of the many tables that building had scattered around.

She glanced at her watch. He was late. Not that she really thought he would be on time for once. He was almost always late.

Kagome opened her text book to the unit the class was currently working on. Algebra. She hated algebra. She actually hated math to begin with, but for some reason she had to take it.

She was intently reading the chapter, desperately trying to understand, when she heard a voice come from behind her.

"Starting without me?"

Kagome turned around, shooting a deadly glare at her tutor. "You're late," was all that she said.

InuYasha sighed and sat down across from her. "Yah, sorry," he started, "I had to beg, borrow and steal to get Sesshoumaru to give me his car to get here." He paused for a moment, "Mom says, 'hi,' by the way."

Kagome nodded. She and InuYasha had been close friends since they were children. There wasn't a single memory that she had that didn't have him in it. They were very close. He was the one who she went to for almost everything. This is probably why she was starting to have feelings towards him that weren't just friendship. She had tried dating other guys, but they just didn't hold up.

"Okay," InuYasha began, "We're going to start with this equation." He handed Kagome a piece of paper with an equation written out in his writing, "Simplify it."

9x+7i 3(3x+7u)

Kagome took a breath and stared at the numbers. This one didn't seem too hard.

9x+7i 9x+21u

Inuyasha watched her intently as she worked on the problem. "Good. Anything you can cancel out."

7i 21u

"Can you simplify it any further?"

i 3u

Kagome looked her answer. This wasn't a question from out of the text book, InuYasha made it up. Did he know what the answer looked like? She looked over at him and noticed that he had a slightly panicked look, like when you bare your soul and are waiting on the reaction of the other party.

"Inu – "She never got a finish what she was saying before he got up, collecting this things.

"Stupid…" It was barely a whisper, Kagome almost missed it.

She tried to reach out for him, but he was too quick and was gone. Yup. That math problem definitely meant what she thought it did.

Regaining her composure, Kagome gathered her things and raced out of the library, trying to catch up with InuYasha. He was almost to his car when she called out to him. He turned around at the sound of her voice. Without a second thought, Kagome dropped her books so that she could wrap her arms around his neck, while still running towards him. He caught her, spinning a little from her momentum. Kagome held him tight and InuYasha let out a sigh.

"I love you too," Kagome whispered against chest.

InuYasha pulled back slightly, and tilted her chin up so that she was looking up into his eyes. They stared at each other for a moment before InuYasha lowered his lips to hers and kissed her ever so lightly.

Kagome, not liking the chaste shyness that he was exerting, rose up on her toes, pushing herself into him more. InuYasha responded to her, making the kiss more passionate and heated. She could feel him run his hands down her back to rest on her hips. They both didn't seem to care that they were making out in the library parking lot.

InuYasha pulled back to get some much needed oxygen. "I guess that was the geekiest way to tell someone they love them."

"Oh, yah," said Kagome, "you're a real nerd." Then she pulled him back down for another kiss.
