~Normal POV~

"Dammit Amu I swear to g- far out- stop it!" Ikuto said, his tone laced with frustration as Amu continued to put some of her things on Ikuto's bed. "This isn't your room,"

Amu nodded. "I know,"

"Then why do you keep putting your stuff here?"

Amu grinned cheekily. "…Cause I want to sleep in your bed tonight,"

"I thought we agreed that we'd have joint rooms as long as you wouldn't crawl into my bed at night,"

"Yeah, well I'm technically not crawling into your bed and secondly it's not even night time right now,"

Ikuto groaned. "Stop finding loopholes!"

"Stop yelling! You're ruining my mood to unpack," Amu retorted.

"Then don't unpack, at least not here,"

"But it'll be so much fun when we're under the covers tonight, naked," Amu said, sending him a flirtatious wink.

The shocked and slightly horrified look on Ikuto's face made Amu burst out laughing.

"I was kidding Ikuto," she said still giggling as a blush crept up his neck.

"I knew that you pervert,"

"Mm, sure,"

"I did!"

"Right,"

"Honest!"

"Of course," she said condescendingly, coming over to pat him on the head.

Ikuto frowned in annoyance but froze when Amu's hand came up to gently press against a nasty bruise that had formed on the corner of his forehead. And just like that, the aura become tense as she quietly 'tsked' under her breath.

"This looks pretty bad," she murmured quietly.

"It's fine, don't worry, I've had worse," Ikuto said, his eyes unable to leave hers. He hated how his heart was basically slamming against his ribcage as he stared into her honey-coloured eyes. Amu's eyes drifted to his, her eyes widening slightly as the smirk slipped off her face.

And then they started leaning closer and closer until they were basically an inch away and then SLAM, the door burst open, a tired looking Kukai standing there.

"Yes! I so whooped your ass this time Hoshina," Kukai stated proudly, panting hard and leaning on the doorframe for support.

"You were playing dirty!" Utau complained, as she appeared next to him.

"Heh you're just a sore loser,"

"You basically tripped me at the beginning of the race and made sure to kick my luggage as far away as possible,"

Kukai winked at her. "You're really cute when you're mad,"

Utau's mouth open and shut like a goldfish, the unexpected compliment throwing her off guard.

Kukai leaned closer to her, his breath fanning across her face.

"And you know what else you are?" he said quietly.

Utau shook her head, captivated by how bright his eyes were.

"A loser," Kukai said grinning.

Utau blinked before growling and slapping him hard in the shoulder which caused him to laugh.

Then as if realizing they weren't alone, they turned to face Ikuto and Amu who were still in the same position they were in before they were so rudely interrupted.

~Utau's POV~

"Sorry are we barging in on something?" I asked raising an eyebrow. Ikuto blushed, effectively pushing Amu away and shaking his head.

"N-no, nothing at all,"

"Sure didn't look like that to me," Kukai said grinning evilly at him.

"Or me," I piped up.

Ikuto glared at us. "You know, I liked it much better when you two are against each other instead of teaming up on me,"

I grinned, ignoring how part of me took that as a compliment.

"You're just trying to change the topic, geez Ikuto, it wasn't even subtle," I said.

He rolled his eyes before grabbing Amu's hand and standing up. A look of surprise crossed my best friends features before she managed to cover it up, her eyes trained on their linked hands.

I tried to hide the smile that was threatening to show, instead I wiggled my eyebrows.

"And where are you too lovebirds off to?" I asked as they brushed past us.

"Liked how you added the cute nickname there, nice touch," Kukai praised.

I flicked my hair to the side smugly. "Thanks,"

"Shut up you morons, we're going to go help the others bring up their luggage unlike some people who were too rude and absorbed in their own competition to even bother helping the others," Ikuto muttered sending the two of us the typical glare.

"But I don't want to help them! I wanna finish unpacking in our room," Amu said pouting.

"My room," Ikuto corrected. "If you want to go unpack, go to yours,"

"Fine, I'll go with you and watch you help the others with their bags,"

Ikuto's eye twitched. "Just watch?"

Amu sighed and flicked her hair to the side. "Well I would've helped, if someone hadn't sprained my beautiful ankle,"

Ikuto snorted. "Your foot should be perfectly fine and capable of movement by now,"

"No it still hurts," Amu whined, suddenly plopping down on the floor and crossing her arms childishly.

"If it still hurts then I guess you can stay up here with Kukai and Utau,"

Amu wrinkled her nose. "No way, there's way too much sexual tension between those two, it'd be super awkward for me,"

I scoffed, trying to suppress the blush that threatened to form. Ikuto rolled his eyes at Amu's antics.

"Dammit Amu, stop making everyone uncomfortable and come help me with the bags,"

Amu frowned, pretending to look upset. "You didn't ask nicely,"

"Ugh…fine, will you please come help me with the luggage?"

"Nope,"

Ikuto clenched his jaw and gave me a hopeless look. I laughed and shook my head.

"If you want Amu to do something for you, you have to do something for her," I stated, grinning at the look of approval Amu sent me.

"That's why you're my best friend," Amu said happily.

"Far out, okay, fine. Since your foot is still supposedly sore, I'll piggyback you down," Ikuto offered grumpily.

"Mmm…sounds good but it doesn't sound exciting enough,"

"What? You want me to jump through hoops of fire at the same time?" Ikuto said sarcastically.

Amu nodded thoughtfully. "I guess that could work. Does anyone have a box of matches and some hoops?"

Ikuto sighed rubbing his temples, making me pity the poor guy a little.

"I'll race you?" I proposed. "Would that make it interesting enough for you Amu?"

Amu's eyes brightened. "Yes, that would definitely work,"

Then she smirked which made me inwardly cringe.

Oh no, what's she up to now?

"But…," Amu trailed off, pretending to sigh deeply.

I bit the inside of my cheek and tried not to glare at her. Maybe she wasn't going to do anything terrible…

"But?" I urged half-heartedly.

"It wouldn't be fair cause you'd have the advantage of not having the extra weight. I wonder what we could do about that…,"

My eyes widened before I sent her a death stare. She smirked smugly back at me before clapping her hands excitedly.

"Oh, I know! Kukai could piggyback you!" she exclaimed happily.

'I hate you,' I mouthed at her.

'Love you too babe,' she mouthed back.

"Sure," Kukai said easily, totally oblivious to Amu's underlying intentions.

"We could totally switch it up," I said, grinning evilly at Amu. "Maybe we should switch partners since Kukai and I as a team would be practically impossible to beat,"

Amu frowned. "Um, no, I think this combination is-"

"Sounds great!" Ikuto cut in, coming over to stand by my side. I grinned and in one quick motion, got him in a headlock and messed up his hair.

"Oiiiii," he complained, quickly pulling himself out of it. I stuck my tongue out at him and he returned it playfully. Even though I hadn't known Ikuto for a long time, he was really easy to get along with and I sort of saw him as my younger brother so I was pretty protective over him.

"Alright! This is going to be fun!" I said happily, grinning from ear to ear at Amu's annoyed state.

I felt a warmth behind me, realizing that Kukai had stepped forward so my back was pressed against his chest as he pulled me away from Ikuto. Ikuto tilted his head slightly, his face matching my confused expression.

"Actually, I think I agree with Amu's original combination," Kukai said gruffly.

"But we'd be way too good," I joked, frowning slightly when Kukai's face remained stoic.

Um, okay…what the frick was wrong with him?

"Yeah, and you mister, gave me this pain so you better be the one that piggybacks me," Amu said wagging her finger in front of his face. Ikuto raised an eyebrow.

"I could've sworn yesterday, you told me it wasn't my fault whatsoever that you got a sprained ankle,"

Amu shook her head and tsked before placing her hand dramatically on her heart. "I wasn't talking about the sprain, I was talking about this ache in my heart at the thought of being away from you,"

Ikuto rolled his eyes and gave me an exasperated look making me laugh.

"Actually I'm going to stay here for a bit," Kukai muttered…almost angrily. I frowned and gave him a concerned look before looking at Amu and Ikuto.

"I guess I'll stay here as well," I said giving them an apologetic look.

"Nah it's cool, we'll be back in like 10 minutes," Ikuto said looking expectantly at Amu. "Are you still coming?"

Amu pouted and held her arms up. "Only if you're still willing to piggyback me,"

Ikuto rolled his eyes before crouching down. "Fine, get on,"

Amu smiled smugly before hopping onto his back.

"You're the best Ikuto. I think you deserve a kiss for your kindness," she said as he straightened himself.

"You do that and I'll drop you," Ikuto threatened as he walked out the door, their voices getting softer the further they got away.

I spun back to face Kukai who was sitting on the bed and looking out the window moodily.

"Okay, what was that?" I demanded going to sit in one of the chairs.

His eyes snapped to mine. "What?"

"You never turn down a competition,"

"I just wasn't in the mood for it,"

I stared at him incredulously. "You're always in the mood for a competition,"

"Look, I just don't want to talk about it alright?" he said harshly. I bit my lip, slightly taken back by his tone and slightly pissed off at the same time.

"Fine," I muttered. We sat in silence for a bit as I tried to hold my tongue to prevent from talking. In an attempt to keep my thoughts in my head I took out a piece of gum and started chewing on it.

"Could you not?"

I glanced up at him in surprise. "Excuse me?"

"Could you not chew so loudly?" he said, his voice irritated.

Anger continued to consume me and any thoughts of remaining calm flew out the damn window. I started snapping on it loudly, glaring at him challengingly. "I don't know what you're on about,"

Kukai's jaw clenched and he stood up slowly.

"Stop," he warned. "Or I'll make you,"

I scoffed and rolled my eyes. "You'll make me? And how on earth would you do that?"

He didn't respond, instead walking towards me. He gripped the sides of my chair and leaned down until he was only a few inches away from my face.

"Last chance to back out," he whispered. I stared at him, surprised at how bright his eyes were, my heart beating like there was no tomorrow.

"You know me, I never back out of anything," I said back, unable to properly think. I watched as he leaned closer.

And then he was kissing me. Hard.

I sat frozen in shock before my eyes shut and I was wrapping my hands around his neck and pulling him closer. I wasn't really thinking about what was happening. All I cared about was how nice his lips felt against mine. He bit my lip and I gasped, surprised when his tongue slipped in and started exploring my mouth. We started battling for dominance, both of us determined not to lose. Unfortunately, no winner was decided as eventually we had to pull away due to the lack of oxygen in our lungs.

We were both panting hard, trying to regain a steady sense of breathing. My cheeks were tinged pink as my hand came up unconsciously to brush over my bruised lips.

I glanced up shyly to see Kukai looking satisfied, a smug smirk on his lips. I looked at him curiously before he stuck his tongue out triumphantly.

With my piece of gum.

That arrogant son of a bitch.

I flinched and glared at him. He did all that for a piece of gum? My blush grew hotter but this time with embarrassment and humiliation.

And to think I thought he was doing it because he might of liked-

I gritted my teeth.

Stupid, stupid, stupid.

"I have to go," I simmered standing up shakily.

Kukai's face fell slightly. "Where?"

"I-I just got have to go help Ikuto with the bags and stuff, I feel sort of bad," I lied. Kukai's demeanor grew cold but I didn't miss the flash of hurt that passed through his eyes.

"Whatever," he muttered turning away as I walked out the door.

I walked out of the room as fast as I could and even though I was still embarrassed, I couldn't stop thinking about that damn kiss.

~Rima's POV~

"Oh hey Amu and Ikuto, what are you guys doing back down here?" I asked as I watched in amusement as Amu played with Ikuto's hair.

"Came to help you guys," Ikuto muttered grumpily. "Amu I swear if you tug at my head one more time- Ouch! Did you just pull a hair out?"

"….no,"

"Amu,"

"It was an accident!"

Ikuto rolled his eyes. "I should just drop you right now,"

"If I go down, I'm bringing you with me," she warned.

Ikuto gave me a frustrated look making me laugh. They were too perfect for each other.

"So where's the others?" Ikuto asked.

"Well Kairi's with Yaya who's gone to the front desk to enquire about some stuff and I think Nagihiko went to the bathroom,"

"Oh, alright. Is Nagi still staying with us?"

I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion. "Um, yeah? Why wouldn't he be?"

Ikuto shrugged. "No reason, it's just that usually he'd book his own personal suite or something,"

I blinked. "Really?"

"Yeah. He's changed, in a good way of course. Must be because of you," Ikuto said nonchalantly.

I blushed, quickly looking away. "What? Don't be ridiculous,"

"No, I'm serious. He's changed a lot and it all started when he met you," Ikuto persisted.

"Who's changed?" a voice from behind me asked. I jumped slightly and gave Nagi an overly sweet smile.

"Oh, no one," I said.

He frowned. "Liar, I'd push you to tell me but I frankly don't quite care. Why are you blushing?"

I felt my face go redder. Why was he so direct?

Ikuto winked at him. "Because of me,"

I watched Nagi's expression hardened, something flickering across his eyes but before I could pinpoint what it was, it was gone.

"I see, and what did he say to you Rima?" Nagi asked bluntly.

"I just said to her-"

"I was asking Rima," Nagihiko said cutting Ikuto off harshly.

I frowned slightly. "That's not very nice Nagi,"

Nagi clenched his jaw and gave Ikuto a glare as if it was his fault for Nagi's behavior. Ikuto smirked smugly back.

"Come on Amu, lets go check on Kairi and Yaya," Ikuto said as Amu continued to nuzzle her face into Ikuto's neck.

"Mmm okay,"

"What's with you today?" I asked, touching his shoulder. "You okay?"

"Y-yeah, just tired," he muttered. I chewed my lip and tilted my head.

"Want to go upstairs and take a nap with me?"

Nagihiko blinked and looked at me in surprise, slightly taken back. I blushed, realizing how intimate that may have sounded. I opened my mouth to take it back but Nagi had already grabbed my hand, leading me to the elevator.

"Yeah, let's go,"

~Yaya's POV~

"So just to clarify, the arcade room on level three is free to enter and free to play?" Kairi. I bit my lip in embarrassment as I sent the manager an apologetic look.

The manager sighed. "Yes, for the fifth time, the arcade is available to any people staying at this hotel,"

"For free, though, right?"

"Wow, I only got here and I'm already annoyed with all your repetitive questions," Ikuto joked coming up with Amu on his back.

Kairi pouted. "I just wanted to make sure it was fre-"

"Free, yeah, I got that," Ikuto said, making me laugh slightly. Kairi glanced at me, furrowing his eyes slightly. "I don't get why you hang out with Yaya so much considering she likes people who are mature,"

I raised my eyebrows, smiling at Ikuto's silly antics. "What? Like you?"

Ikuto grinned, pretending to puff out his chest. "Why yes, that's a great example, I seem to think I'm a responsible young adult,"

I rolled my eyes. "Ah yes, of course you are. It's very mature to piggyback a girl who's the same age as you,"

"Ooh you got me there, maybe I'm not as responsible as I think,"

"I-I'm a grown up too!" Kairi suddenly said eagerly.

I giggled and shook my head. "Kairi, only kids call themselves 'grown-ups',"

Ikuto nodded gravely. "Yeah, I agree with you Yaya. Well, I'm off to dump the piece of garbage that's on my back into the bin, I'll see you guys later back at the rooms,"

"What piece of garbage on your back? I'm the only one that's on your- oh. Ha-ha, very funny Ikuto," Amu muttered as Ikuto burst out laughing as they walked away.

"Kairi would you like to go up now? Or would you like to harass the manager with more questions?" I teased, giggling when his cheeks flushed pink.

"I-I guess we could go up now," he said somewhat shyly. I tried not to squeal at the cuteness as we both started going to the room.

~Amu's POV~

"I can see what you're trying to do, you know," I said softly.

"Mmm? I don't know what you're talking about," Ikuto said feigning ignorance. I rolled my eyes, a smile playing on my lips.

"At first I thought you were doing it without knowing when you did it to Utau and Kukai. Then you did it again to Nagi and Rima, which I thought was just a coincidence. Then you did it again to Kairi and Yaya. Geez you cheeky cheeky boy,"

"Still don't know what you're on about," he replied but I could hear the smile in his tone.

"Oh give me a break, I know you were trying to make all the boys jealous. You're playing matchmaker,"

"Am not. I'm just giving them a little push,"

"I wish someone would give you a little push," I said without really thinking what I was saying.

Ikuto's step faltered slightly before he regained his original rhythm. He cleared his throat.

"Maybe I'll give myself a little push," he said nonchalantly as he continued to walk up the stairs that lead to our level.

I blinked in surprise, my heartbeat increasing slightly. What did he mean by that?

"Yo guys! Where did everyone else go?" someone yelled. I glanced up, surprised to see my best friend making her way over to us.

"You just missed them. Wait a minute, I thought you were going to stay upstairs with Kukai," Ikuto said.

Utau's eyes widened slightly at the name and she looked away, her cheeks reddening. I looked at her curiously, wondering what happened between the two of them.

"U-uh yeah but I decided last minute to come down and help you guys out cause I'm a savior and all that," she said laughing it off. Ikuto shrugged but I could tell that he knew something was up.

"Alright, well we're going back up anyway, wanna come with?"

Utau nodded chewing her lip nervously.

"Actually Ikuto, I think I might've dropped my ring somewhere along the entrance. Can you please go look for it? We'll wait here," I asked Ikuto, hoping he'd get the hint. He blinked at me and remained silent for a few seconds before a small smile appeared on his face and he nodded.

"Yeah sure thing, I'll be right back," he said before quickly jogging away even though he blatantly looked at the ring that was situated on my hand. I turned to face Utau who had a distant look in her eye.

"What's up?" I asked.

She glanced at me startled. "W-what?"

"Come on, I know something's up. What happened between the two of you after we left?"

"N-n-nothing why would you think something h-happened?!"

"Well your stuttering sort of gives it away…,"

She blew out a deep breath, looking down at the ground. "It's just he sort of humiliated me,"

My eyes snapped to hers in alarm. "What?"

And then she was explaining the situation to me, her eyes watering slightly at the last part.

"He's a jerk," she mumbled, gritting her teeth.

"Alright I agree that he's a jerk but hear me out okay?"

"Oh no, you're going to say something that's going to tally make me hate you," she groaned. I rolled my eyes.

"Don't be so dramatic. Okay I know it was a dick move but I don't think that was his intention, sort of. His competitive, arrogant, cocky side may have taken over slightly but I think he really does like you and he's probably feeling like shit for the way he acted. Just keep an open mind yeah?"

Utau let out a deep breath. "Easy for you to say, how would you like it if Ikuto made out with you and then acted like a douche cause he thought he won?"

I smirked and then sent her a wink. "Honestly wouldn't care cause I'd be making out with Ikuto,"

Utau rolled her eyes, a small smile playing on her face. "Typical Amu, you perverted son of a gun,"

"Who's perverted?" Ikuto asked coming towards us.

"The piece of garbage you used to carry on your back,"

"Oh, yeah, most perverted piece of garbage I've ever met,"

"Guys!" I whined, tugging on Ikuto's shirt as he continued to ignore me and talk to Utau. "I'm right here,"

"So what were you thinking about doing for the rest of the day?" Ikuto asked, deliberately paying no attention to me as he continued to walk with her to the elevator.

"Mmm probably just chilling with you guys. Maybe go to the beach with Rima and Yaya," Utau replied before pressing the button on the lift.

I pouted, now tugging on her arm. "What about poor, lonely me?"

Utau gasped making me perk my ears up. "Oh how could I forget? You and your friends are welcome to join me Ikuto!"

I pouted. "You guys are so cruel,"

~Kukai's POV~

"Oi, what's got you looking so sour and sad?" Nagi asked kicking me in the leg and snapping me out of my thoughts. I growled at him.

"Nothing you twerp,"

I glared at the table in front of me wanting the beat the crap out of it for no apparent reason.

Well there was one reason.

And she was probably downstairs flirting with the stupid bastard that was supposed to be my best friend.

Even after I made the move to kiss her. I mean, I thought for sure she shared the same feelings as me but maybe I was wrong considering she ran off the moment it was over.

It.

Man, I can't even say that we- that we-

Far out Kukai, just man up and say it.

That we kissed.

I sighed, taking a few deep breaths. Maybe I wasn't thinking rationally, maybe I'm overreacting. I just got to calm down, I get a little hot-headed sometimes.

So we had an awesome make-out session, then what happened? Then I stuck my tongue out with her gum on it in order to lighten the mood cause I was nervous as hell. I mean, it'd be awkward and humiliating if she rejected me or laughed in my face. Then she was fleeing off without so much of a word with what happened. I don't get why she would've just left-

Oh shit.

Oh shit.

I'm such a little douche. I sighed and ruffled my hair angrily. I'm such a jerk. She probably misinterpreted my intentions.

"You okay Kukai?" Rima asked with concern. I jumped, looking at her startled. I totally forgot there were people in this room.

"Y-yeah, I'm cool,"

"Mmm, okay,"

"Guys, Utau and Ikuto keep ignoring me," Amu complained, bursting into the room with the said people following behind her, talking animatedly. I clenched my fist.

Or maybe Utau just liked someone else. I glanced at Utau immediately catching her eye. She flushed and her speech faltered slightly before she looked away awkwardly.

I inwardly groaned.

I was such a dick.

~Normal POV~

"So, what do you guys want to do for the rest of the afternoon?" Ikuto piped up after they all sat down.

"Let's go to the beach," Amu immediately said. The blue-haired boy glanced at her impressed.

"Wow, for the first time, that's a relatively good idea coming from your mouth,"

"Only cause I want to see you shirtless,"

"And there goes any ounce of respect I had for you,"

"Pfft, like you had any to begin with,"

"Touché,"

"Yeah, I'm good with the beach," Kairi said excitedly, jumping up. "I want to build a sand castle,"

Yaya sighed, shaking her head. "Of course you do,"

Kairi looked at her, scrunching his face in concentration before coughing and puffing his chest. "I mean, actually I want to walk along the shore and l-look out at the waves and…think about life?"

Everyone blinked at him. Nagihiko sniggered.

"What is that loser talking about now?" Nagihiko muttered to Rima, earning him a disapproving glance and a jab at the gut; their plan to take a nap now replaced with a new one.

"Uh…okay Kairi, you little weirdo," Ikuto said slowly. "So the rest of you guys want to go? I think the rest of our class is already down there playing volleyball and stuff,"

"Yeah, I'm game," everyone chorused together making Ikuto shiver slightly.

"It's so creepy when you guys do that,"

~Utau's POV~

"Wow Amu, I thought it took me long to get ready but I stand corrected. Far out, how long does it take for you to choose a damn bikini? And also on that note, why did you bring so many damn bikinis? We're only here for like two days," I stated, tapping my foot impatiently as Amu continued to look over her bed, which was scattered with an abundant variety of swimwear.

Amu sighed. "I gotta look smokin' so I can watch Ikuto stutter and fumble about adorably,"

I rolled my eyes. "Amu, seriously anything you're going to wear is going to make Ikuto have a nosebleed,"

"Awww, you always know what to say,"

I laughed shaking my head. "Hurry up then, you slow poke. The boys are already down at the beach,"

"Okay, okay…hmm. Maybe I should go with the polka dots, no no, that's too childish on me. Maybe the swirls? Mmmm doesn't really-"

I groaned as she continued to contemplate her tough decision. I stood up straighter as an idea suddenly popped into my head.

"You know Amu…," I drawled out.

"Hmm?"

"The quicker you get changed, the longer you'll probably get to see Ikuto…shirtless,"

Amu's head snapped up. "What now?"

"And if he's playing volleyball, bonus points for you because you'll get to see him all sweaty and not to mention all his muscles he probably has,"

She stood up fast, grabbing the nearest bikini she could fine. "I'll be out in ten minutes. Actually, make that five,"

I giggled at her excited behavior before glancing at Yaya.

"And where is your swimwear?" I asked as she continued to read her book.

"Oh, I prefer to stay nice and dry," she stated her eyes barely flickering over to me,"

I pouted before sending her a wink. "But don't you want to wear something that'll show off your hot figure,"

She gasped in disbelief making me laugh.

"U-utau! T-that's quite enough," she said, a small blush rising on her face.

"What's more is that Kairi will get to see you and he'll probably swoon and fall in love with you,"

Her eyes widened even more as she hesitantly looked to her suitcase, as if the thought of Kairi seeing her donned in swimwear made it more appealing for her to do so.

"I-I can't," she said glancing down. I frowned.

"Why not?"

"I didn't bring any,"

"Oh I can solve that for you hun, just borrow one of Amu's, I'm sure she wouldn't mind," Rima said coming over and sitting on the bed next to Yaya.

"I promise you it isn't riddle with diseases of any sort," Amu yelled from the bathroom.

"Thanks you guys," she whispered before getting up and going over to the bed where all the bikinis were. Her hands skimmed over the various designs, her eyes glancing at them uncertainly.

"Here, take this one. I bet it'll look really good on you," Rima said gently, picking up one that was green with white stripes and placing them in her hands. I pushed her off into the direction of the bathroom and Amu opened the door before yanking her in as well.

I looked at Rima and whistled, my eyes going over her outfit. She had decided to wear a pink bikini with white polka dots.

"Lookin' good Rima," I complimented. She smiled at me.

"Not too bad yourself,"

I looked down at my simple purple bikini that Amu said 'brought out my eyes'.

"Guys, look how good I look," Amu said stepping out of the bathroom, wearing a really nice navy bikini.

"Wow, the boys are going to be all over you," I commented. Amu smirked.

"I only want one specific male,"

"You're really serious about him, huh?" I asked, watching as she went to apply sun screen. She paused and glanced at me.

"About pursuing him? Yeah sure,"

"Don't give me that,"

"What?"

"Oh, so you're saying to don't have any feelings for him whatsoever," I said, watching her flinch slightly.

"Yep," she said shrugging her shoulders.

"Mm, that's why you and Ikuo are so compatible even though your personalities are so different," I stated.

"What are you on about?"

"You're both so stubborn,"

I watched Amu grab her bag whilst rolling her eyes. "Whatever Utau, you guys ready to head out?"

I heard the sound of the bathroom door being open before Yaya stumbled out, her face flushed as she wrapped her arms around her waist.

"Wow, lookin' hot Yaya," I whistled, laughing when her face got hotter. She hurried over to grab her book and glasses before glancing at us.

"Are we going or what?"

~Amu's POV~

The sun warmly greeted us the moment we stepped out of the hotel. Luckily the beach was only across the road so we didn't have to walk that far.

"So, what are you guys planning on doing at the beach?" Rima asked.

"Gonna destroy everyone at volleyball," Utau said smugly.

"Read my book," Yaya muttered.

"Constantly follow Ikuto, you know, the usual," I said shrugging. "What are you going to do?"

"Might just chill with Yaya on the beach. Sunbathe a little,"

"Ooh nice, maybe I'll joi-"

My speech faltered as my throat went dry at the sigh before me.

"A-amu?" Rima pressed.

"Earth to Amu, I repeat, earth to Amu," Utau said whacking me on the arm.

Oh my motherfucking shitballs.

I blinked. Once, twice, and one more time for good measure. I should've been blinded; I mean, a shirtless Ikuto should be illegal because he looked too damn good. I watched as he spiked a ball over the net, his eyes showing determination.

And then my view decided to become obstructed by a bunch of girls who decided to circle around him.

Oh, they were going down.

"You guys have fun with whatever you're gonna do, I'm going to go to Ikuto," I growled, stalking over to where he was being friendly and cozy to them.

A bit too cozy if you ask me.

"Woah, you're just soooooo good at volleyball," a girl squealed to him making him blush which just infuriated me more.

Only he was allowed to blush if I was the cause.

"And you're so so so muscular!" another chirped.

Ikuto laughed. "I'm actually not that fit-"

"Oh shush you," I interrupted, snaking my arms around his waist from behind. "You'd think after all the…let's say strenuous exercise we do together, it's why you're so fit," I purred in his ears, loud enough for the other girls to hear.

Their mouths gaped open as their eyes widened.

Even though I couldn't see Ikuto's face, I could tell he was blushing. This blush was much better then the pathetic attempt of a blush he had before.

"What are you on about?!" he spluttered spinning round to face me. "You're such a perv-"

His words died in his mouth as he suddenly took in my appearance, his face going delightfully redder.

"I think you're the pervert here Ikuto," I said dramatically placing a hand on my forehead. "I mean, look at you leering at an innocent girl like me,"

That snapped him out of whatever spell he was under because his eyes was to mine in an instant, obviously appalled.

"W-what is she talking about Iku?" a girl pathetically whimpered. I rolled my eyes, what was with the stupid nickname?

"Yeah! What's this strenuous exercise the two of you do?" another said.

"Wouldn't you like to know?" I said. I hooked my arm through Ikuto's and started to whisk him away, turning my head to face them and sending them a clear message to back off. I ignored the way my stomach clenched from the skin-to-skin contact of the two of us.

"I'd like to know," Ikuto grumbled.

"I was just talking about all the activities we do like the couple's race, the walk we did yesterday and etcetera, you get the idea," I said innocently.

"O-oh," Ikuto mumbled, his hand reaching up to ruffle his hair. I smirked.

"Geez Ikuto, get your mind out of the gutter,"

"W-wh-what? My mind wasn't in any gutter," he said.

"Such a bad liar,"

"Shut up and anyway, if you didn't notice I was in the middle of a game against Kukai,"

"I'm sure someone will replace you. Actually, I think Kukai will be glad he'd be able to replace you because you kind of sucked,"

"Hey!"

~Utau's POV~

I watched amusedly as Amu dragged Ikuto away from the girls who were now looking after him longingly.

"Oi, where are you going Ikuto? You just messed up the ratio of the teams," a voiced called after him. Kukai appeared next to me as he glared at the back of Ikuto's head. I averted my eyes from his as I took in his very attractive half naked body. My ears turned red as I shook my head, trying to get rid of those terrible thoughts.

"Aw crap, now I have to find someone else to fill in," Kukai muttered before looking around. He froze when he finally spotted me right next to him, his eyes going wide.

I resisted the urge to run or slap him in the face again and instead straightened my back.

"I'll replace him,"

Kukai seemed distracted as his eyes glazed over me again.

I repeated my statement again, this time louder. He jumped slightly before coughing awkwardly.

"Uh yeah, sure, come on,"

And then he was grabbing my hand and pulling me along. My eyes immediately snapped to our interlocked hands. I should've pulled away considering I was still incredibly mad at his actions earlier but I didn't want to. Which of course does not make any sense to me whatsoever.

I was so absorbed at looking at our hands that I didn't realise that he had stopped- which obviously resulted in my crashing into his back. I stumbled backwards slightly but he easily maneuvered himself to catch me.

"You alright?"

I nodded before flickering my eyes away from him and quickly detangling myself. I went to the other side of the court and stood in Ikuto's position.

Kukai sent me one o his boyish smirks. "Get ready to be smashed,"

~Yaya's POV~

I quickly set up my towel on the sand and sat down before pulling out the book in my bag.

"You're seriously going to read even thought it's such a lovely day to sunbathe or play?" Rima asked me as she lay down next to me.

I grinned. "Maybe I'll sunbathe and read,"

Before she could respond Kairi and Nagihiko had come into our sights.

"Rima! Have you seen Yaya?"

Rima blinked quizzically. "Um, yes?"

"Oh, good, where is she?"

I looked at him curiously.

Rima tilted her head before slowly pointing to me. "…Right here?"

Kairi's eyes landed on mine, his frown slowly turning into a gaping look of surprise.

I looked down uncomfortably. Did he not recognise me because I looked bad? I had taken my hair out of it's normal high ponytail and let it loose.

"Yaya?!" Kairi asked in a tone of disbelief.

I glanced up, noting that his cheeks were tinged pink. Must be because of the sun. I bet the silly boy forgot to put sunscreen on.

"Yes Kairi?" I said calmly.

"Y-you look so prett-"

His voice stopped abruptly before he straightened his back and changed his cute expression into a serious one.

"What?" I asked confusedly.

"I mean, you look picturesque," he said, his tone dropping a few octaves so it was much lower than before.

Nagi, Rima and I looked at him skeptically. Why was he acting so weird?

"Um…weird word choice but thank you?" I said unsurely. Kairi seemed to be proud of himself as he smiled smugly.

"Um, let's go and leave these weirdos Rima," Nagihiko scoffed, pulling her up quickly causing her to yelp.

"Hey! Where are we going?" Rima said as he started pulling her away.

"Somewhere where Kairi isn't there,"

Kairi pouted after them causing me to giggle. I lay down on my towel and sighed, enjoying the suns warmth before opening my book.

"Yaya?"

"Hmm?" I said, not bothering to look up at him.

"You know how you can wink with one eye?"

"Yes, I am aware,"

"…What happens if you tried winking with both eyes, at the same time?"

My finger froze, mid-way through turning the page, as I titled my head to face him. I chewed the inside of my cheek to refrain from laughing as I stared at the proud look on his face as if he had just thought of something amazing.

"Um…Kairi?" I said gently, putting my book down entirely so I could lean in towards him.

"Yeah?" he said grinning at me with that child-like dimple forming as he did so.

"When you wink with both eyes…that's considered as blinking,"

His face fell dramatically, causing a small giggle to bubble out of my lips. I watched as his hand came up to scratch his head, his face bright red.

"Oh I-I knew that, I was just messing with you,"

I bit my lip. "What's with you?"

He frowned. "What? Nothing, why?"

"Well, first, your response is way too quick to be remotely normal and you've been acting ridiculously weird these past two hours,"

"I'm not trying to act weird," Kairi muttered more to himself. He coughed awkwardly. "I'm perfectly in good health Yaya, thank you for your apprehension,"

I snickered. "Apprehension? Do you mean concern?"

Another blush warmed his cheeks. "U-um yes,"

"You know when Ikuto said you weren't manly, he was just messing with you, right?"

Kairi's head whipped up to meet mine so fast I'm surprised it didn't break. "What? Seriously?"

I nodded.

He eyed me nervously, twiddling his thumbs cutely. "S-so you do like guys who aren't mature?"

I let out a soft laugh and nodded.

He blew out a sigh of relief and slumped, his voice now returning to normal. "Oh good! That was so hard, I had to keep taking out my phone and searching up synonyms for things,"

"I admire your…valiant effort, but why did you try so hard just to make sure I liked you?"

His face suddenly went really red. "Just u-um because I want people I consider to be my friends to like me,"

I titled my head. "So you'd do it for anyone?"

For some reason, I was anxious for his answer.

He glanced down. "Only for friends I really really like,"

I bit my lip to stop a smile that threatened to break onto my face, my heart suddenly beating ten times faster.

"Good answer," I laughed, trying to get rid of any awkward tension that was looming over us.

He grinned at me. "Thanks, come on, I've been dying to make a sandcastle but I couldn't before because I was trying to be cool. Now I can so let's go,"

He held his hand out, his eyes lit up with excitedness.

I smiled and took his hand.

~Rima's POV~

"So where are we going?" I asked as I trailed behind him, my hand still in his. We were now walking along the sidewalk opposite of the beach where a string of shops were situated.

"Somewhere," he muttered gruffly. I suppressed a smile.

"You don't know where we're going, do you? You're just wandering around aimlessly,"

I giggled when he didn't respond which I took as a silent confirmation. Coming towards us were a bunch of rowdy boys who had spotted me and started leering at me.

"Ooooh, looking hot you cutie," one of the boys whistled. "Why don't you ditch that loser and come hang out with us? We'll treat you real nice,"

I flinched and avoided eye contact, instead huddling closer to Nagihiko who tightened his grip on me instinctively.

"Fuck off you douche bags," Nagihiko warned, glaring at them. The boy looked like he wanted to retort but one of his buddies reeled him back and sent an apologetic glance our way.

"Sorry he's a bit drunk,"

Nagi clenched his jaw. "Whatever,"

Then he was pulling me faster along, leaving the group of boys behind.

"Thanks for kind of sticking up for me," I said gratefully as he pulled me into a souvenir shop.

"You're too polite to do something so I had no choice," he muttered. I grinned at his deciphered 'you're welcome'.

"So what are we doing in here?" I asked as he walked over to the clothes rack.

"Finding you a shirt that you can wear,"

I glanced at him in surprise. "What now?"

He looked at me, his eyes full of anger. "So boys won't look at you like that,"

I tilted my head. "It's okay, I'm okay with it,"

He sighed. "Look I know it's wrong and selfish for me to tell you to cover up because honestly you shouldn't have to do that because boys should learn how to control themselves and not fucking leer at innocent people on the fucking streets,"

My eyes widened since he had raised is voice in the last sentence.

I lightly touched his arm. "Woah, hey, it's okay, calm down,"

He took a deep breath and looked away. "Sorry, just give me a second. Boys like that make me really mad,"

I smiled softly at him; he was just a big softie at heart.

I picked out a white shirt that had 'I 3 the beach," on it and held it out to him. "I'll wear this on one condition,"

He shook his head. "No it's wrong for me to demand you to do stuff like that,"

"No I want to," I insisted. He eyed me warily.

"What's the condition then?"

"You have to wear one too,"

He stared at me incredulously. "What?"

I grinned, a small blush blossoming on my face as I averted my eyes. "It'll be like a couple T-shirt, I've always wanted to try it. Even though we aren't a couple or anything, you're a really good friend so it should be fine. It's like the shirt says 'I belong to him and she belongs to me' or anything so it can be like a friends couple shirt. Okay, no I think about it, it is sort of weird. You know what? Nevermind forget what I said before I'm just being sill-"

He snatched the shirt out of my hand, a smirk on his face. "You're really cute when you chatter on incessantly, you know what?"

That made my face redden.

He raised an eyebrow.

"Well? Aren't you going to get your shirt?"
