i just thought of this a few days ago and wanted to post it for St. Patty's Day! ENJOYY!

Disclaimer: I must give credit to *gags* Skylark Evanson for a line of hers towards the middle. LOVE YOU, CHICA!

POV: Gwen

"Kevin, stop." I pushed him away.

"But it's St. Patrick's Day! And you're not wearing green! I have to pinch you!"

"You're not wearing green, either." I reinforced my mana shield in front of me.

"Whatever." He somehow ran around the edge of my shield and charged at me.

I jerked away from him, and pulled a muscle in my neck. "Ow! Kevin, stop!"

"What happened?"

"I pulled something," I said, rubbing my neck. "And now I'm mad. See, that's what you get for trying to pinch me."

"Do you want me to kiss it?"

I shot him a look. "Right in the middle of town, no, I do not."

He shot me a sideways smile. "Wanna head out behind Mr. Smoothie so I can?"

"Kevin!"

"Okay, okay!" He backed off.

"Let's go. I promised Ben cookies for when he came home from school."

"What about me?"

"You don't go to school," I said, walking into the store. "So I can't promise you cookies for when you get home from it."

"You also promised him homemade cookies. Why are you buying them?"

"He doesn't know that difference," I shot at him, annoyed. "Now shut up, you're giving me a headache."

The rest of the afternoon, Kevin sulked around me with a pouty-face. I felt a little guilty because I had exploded on him in public, but he deserved it. We'd been hanging out long enough that he should know when I've had enough of his constant, unnecessary yammering.

I reached up for a plate to put Ben's "homemade" cookies on when the muscle in my neck started acting up again. "Ay!" I dropped the plate and rubbed my neck.

"What's wrong?" Kevin came running. "Oh, your neck again?"

I nodded.

"Here. I'll poke it and make it better."

"No!" I slapped his hand away.

He mocked rubbing his hand in pain. "Jeez, are you on your period or something?"

I shot him against the wall with a ray of mana. "Don't joke about that."

He gave me that irresistible pouty-face again. This kid was relentless.

I pulled my apron from the pantry and smeared some flour on it. Even though Ben wasn't really smart enough to check it for the effects of baking, but I didn't want to take the chance.

"'Kiss me, I'm Irish.' Are you really Irish?" Kevin asked, reading my apron over my shoulder.

"Somewhat. Maybe. I'm not sure. Probably not. I've never really cared about my heritage all that much. Just human and anodite. That's all that's ever mattered to me."

"Oh."

I felt his hand slip onto my waist and pull me against his chest.

"I'm sorry I was being such a piss-ass today."

"I'm sorry that I decided to have my period today."

"You're seriously on it? I was just joking."

I leaned my head against him. "I hate it."

Kevin just held me for a while. It felt good to be in his arms and to feel loved. I didn't want to make him take his arms from me, but I had to so Ben wouldn't get suspicious it he saw us through a window.

I turned to face him with my arms around his neck. "Kiss me, I'm anodite."

He smiled and lowered his lips to mine.

Right in the heat of the moment, he pinched my spine. I yelped and backed up against the wall.

"That's what you get for not wearing green." He smirked and walked off into the living room to watch Sumo Slammers.
