A/N: Woooohoooo I'm back with a new chapter… Enjoy! I had to edit this chapter because Tristan, Logan, Finn, and Colin are all four years older than Rory, Paris, Madeline, and Louise... The boys are all 21 while the girls are 17... In case I didn't make it clear the girls are all seniors!

Janlan looked at his grandson and hid a smile when he saw that Tristan kept looking at the doorway of the living room. He walked over and sat down beside him. "What's on your mind, Tristan?"

Tristan sighed and ran a hand through his hair as he looked at his grandfather. "How is it that I can be worried about a slip of a girl that I have never really even met, Grandpa? I saw her for the first time today when Logan carried her out to the car after she had been hurt. I want to protect her yet I don't even know her and that scares me."

Janlan shook his head. "That is the Rory effect, Tristan. For as long as I can remember Rory has always inspired the opposite sex to protect her without even trying. If your father was in town right now he would burn Hartford down for what has happened to Rory and I'm not looking forward to telling him that the girl he has done his best to protect has been hurt."

Tristan's eyes widened at that. "What do you mean by that, Grandpa?"

Janlan sighed and ran a hand down his face. "Your father was twenty when he met Lorelai and she was sixteen years of age. By then your father was already in love with your mother and married to her, but he was taken by Lorelai because she wasn't what he expected an heiress of the Gilmore family to be. He introduced Lorelai and your mother to one another and it was Selena who helped Lorelai out when things got too bad at Lorelai's house because of Emily. When Lorelai ended up pregnant it was your father who helped get her away and to Stars Hollow. Your mother was all for having Lorelai tell people that Damon was the father of her child but your mom was pregnant with your younger sister at the time and Lorelai refused to let everyone think that your father cheated on your mother."

He took in a deep breath and let it out. "You father doesn't know it but I do know that he is the one who paid for Rory's hospital stay when she was hurt in grade school. I also know that it was your father who paid for the house that Lorelai and Rory now live in because Selena wanted him and to and she knew that he wanted to also. Your father blames himself for Rory having to live like she had to when she was younger because Lorelai wouldn't go along with Selena's idea. Damon has always stood by what he said all those years ago about Christopher Hayden not deserving to have such a wonder daughter like Rory and I know that he is right. Mitchum can get away with adopting Rory since him and Shira divorced after he found her cheating on him. Your father would adopt Rory in a heartbeat, but after I explain to him why he can't he will be happy as long as she ends up his daughter one way or another."

Tristan snorted. "I don't know if it will come to that, grandpa."

Janlan laughed. "Tristan, you are a DuGrey of course it will come to that because you are just like your father and I. It took only one look to know who it was that we would end up with. It takes one look at a girl/woman to know who we want to spend the rest of our lives loving. I have always thought that it would be wonderful if you would be the one to end up with Rory because I want only the best for her and you, grandson, are the best. I have no doubt that you two will balance once another out and that is what you both need to be honest. The only thing I ask, Tristan, is that you make sure she is treated well because if anyone deserves to have someone who will treat them right it is that girl."

Tristan took in a deep breath and let it out. "If and I do mean if, grandpa, that I end up with Rory that I will treat her like a Queen. Regardless if her and I end up together I will make sure that she is protected because shit like this can't happen again unless someone wants to die."

Janlan smirked. "That right there is why I think you and her will end up together, Tristan. You and I both know that you wouldn't be this protective over someone you didn't know."

Tristan rubbed a hand down his face. "I'm not saying I won't end up with her, grandfather, just that it isn't a done deal just yet. I know that I want someone standing guard outside her hospital room while she's here, but I guess that is up to Logan and Mitchum."

Logan who had just walked over to Tristan chuckled. "Dad and I are giving you just as much say in things as we have, Tristan. I wasn't trying to listen to you and Janlan talk but I couldn't help but hear everything you two had to say to one another. Tristan, I think that you are the only guy that my dad and I would allow to get with Rory because we know that you wouldn't treat her less than she deserved. Since I've known her Rory has had trust issues with people of the opposite sex and I'm pretty sure it stems from her father, grandfathers, and even her ex-boyfriend Dean. Rory may be a lot of trouble for a guy to go through to be with but I know that she is worth it."

He ran a hand down his face. "She's been hurt too much to trust any man or boy too quickly. She may be slow to give her trust but once she does you'll have it for life as long as you don't break the trust and faith she puts in you. Rory is smart, caring, kind, loving, loyal, and fiercely protective of those she calls friends and/or family. She is funny and has one hell of a coffee addiction. I think that she studies too much so she needs someone like you because you'll make her stop to smell the roses so to speak. I think that you work too much sometimes and I know that Rory will make sure that you eat even if you are working too much or too long."

Tristan raised an eyebrow. "You've given this a lot of thought, Logan."

Logan shrugged his shoulders. "I've thought that you and Rory would be the perfect couple for a while now. I just couldn't ever get you to agree to take them all out to lunch before today because you have been swamped with work. Would you like to come back with me when the nurse comes tell us that she is in a room?"

Tristan nodded. "I would like that, Logan. Thank you."

Logan smirked. "If you really want to thank me, Tristan, then just be good to Rory when you two get together."

Tristan huffed. "Everyone is sure that we'll end up together."

Logan laughed. "I have no doubt that you will, Tristan. Like I said I think that you two will be perfect for one another."

Tristan rolled his eyes but before he could respond a nurse walked in and said "Family of Rory Gilmore. If everyone will follow me I'll show you to Miss Gilmore's hospital room but only two to three people may go into see her at one time for the next couple of hours."

Logan nodded. "That is fine as long as there is someplace that everyone can sit because none of us will be leaving for a while."

The nurse smiled. "There is a waiting room on the floor that Miss Gilmore is on. She is on the fifth floor in room 502. She is in a private room as requested. If someone would talk to the hospital administrator we should be able to have a list made for who can and cannot be let in to see Miss Gilmore."

Janlan nodded. "I'll see to that after you show us to Rory's hospital room so I know where it is at."

Logan smiled at Janlan. "Thank you, Janlan. I wasn't looking forward to having to leave Rory's side once I get into her hospital room." He took in a deep breath and let it out when they came to a stop in front of Rory's hospital room three minutes later. He looked at Tristan and led the way into the room. He was happy that his dad understood that for the first few minutes that he wanted it to only be him and Tristan in Rory's hospital room.

He bit back a groan when he saw just how thin Rory was looking. He looked at Tristan with fire in his eyes. "Whoever in the fuck made her ingest those diet pills without her knowing it is gonna pay and pay dearly. I didn't realize that she was this damn thin even though when I carried her out to the car earlier I could feel how light she was. She didn't need to lose any weight to begin with let alone that fucking much weight."

Tristan's eyes were flashing as he slowly raked them over Rory's figure. He didn't like how pale, drawn, and thin she was looking. "Whoever did it is going to wish that they were never born by the time we're finished with them. I thought she was pretty when I got the glimpse of her that I did but now I think she is beautiful. It's not gonna be easy but she'll be worth it."

Logan grinned at that. "I told you that you would end up with her! No, you're right it isn't gonna be easy but then again nothing worth having is easy. I'm gonna have Luke and Jess make sure they bring Rory some food because there is no way in hell I'm gonna let her eat the crap that the hospital calls food."

Tristan nodded. "We'll make sure that she eats. At least she looks like she isn't in any pain right now."

Logan snorted. "They probably have her hopped up on pain meds which is a good thing I think. We might as well sit down because I don't think either of us will be going anywhere anytime soon."

Tristan nodded again and pulled a chair up to the left side of Rory's hospital bed while Logan pulled one up on the right side of the bed.

It wasn't long before Mitchum came in followed by Luke, Jess, Janlan, Anette, Robert, Paris, Madeline, Louise, Finn, and Colin. All the others kept switching off and on with one another leaving Logan and Tristan to be in the room at all times.
