Ashan stared at the other Djinn.

Please, please I'll beg if I have to, just say yes.

She turned to look at him, and all he could see were the eyes. Those Arctic green eyes that shone with the power within her. This wasn't fair he thought bitterly. She should be able to stay with him, stay protected, stay so that she could follow in her desire to follow her name. To stay separate from other, to just watch as the events passed her in the universe. She was angel of solitude and tears, and Djinn did weep when they came close to her, for they could feel the ice coldness within her and the power contained. She didn't interfere. She had never interfered except for Pearl. She had been the first murderer on Earth to kill her own kind, and never had it made such a difference. Before, people had just skipped her over, seeing her as nothing important, afterwards they skipped away from her, for fear of retribution, for fear of becoming an Ifrit.

He knew what she was going to say. She may not care for the humans scuttling around their Mother, but she wouldn't kill. Not again. Not without reason and good persuasion. Not like Pearl.

Then she turned to him and said it.

No.

They both knew that he would have to punish her, and severely. They both knew that they would miss each other, miss erupting together into the cosmos as energy. Miss the feeling of being accepted.

Then she repeated it, and he blasted her down to humanity, watching over her sadly.
