Recap: Adrians POV:"Tell me what you know," they both demanded. Awkward.

Chapter 21: Compromises

Bella's POV:

I grabbed the extended water bottle that Adrian just came back with and gave him my thanks while listening to dad explain all that he knew. I had finished when Adrian left the room to get waters for the three of us.

"And that's what I know," said dad as he opened his bottle and took a drink.

"What do we do now? How can we remain safe?" I asked him.

"We," he pointed at the three of us, "do nothing."

"What do you mean we do nothing?! We have to do something or else it is just going to keep happening or they will attack other innocent people."

"Bella, that is what dhamphir are trained for. We are Moroi. They will keep us safe."

"I have had too many people lay their lives on the line for me. We can't do this. We have to be proactive."

"Bella, no. You are not even trained physically or with your magic."

"Fine," I huffed and crossed my arms over my chest to which I noticed drew Adrian's attention over. I scoffed at him and he just shrugged.

"Don't take that tone with me Isabella. I am your father and I am just trying to keep you safe."

"And look at how well you've done," I yelled and stood. I stumbled a bit as my ears began ringing. Adrian came over to my side and helped settle me. "You have lied to me my entire life. You have hidden what I am from me. I am not trained because of you. I know nothing about this life because of you! I am tired.

"Duh, you just came from the hospital," Adrian whispered. I ignored him.

"I am sick and tired of everything. Mother being so freaking irresponsible, robbing me of my childhood. You robbing me of a father and a whole way of life. Edward acted more like a father than you did with his controlling tendencies. You didn't even realize that he wasn't human because you never spent the time with me. You continued to spend time with FPD, Billy, the Mariners, and Corona. Tell me DAD, why, no how did you think hiding this would help? This only endangers us more."

"Bella, you have always been so fragile. I didn't think you would be able to physically handle growing up here. I wanted you to have a normal life away from the politics."

"Sorry to interrupt sir. But from the little amount of time that I have known her, Bella is a survivor. Yes, she is a danger magnet. But I think we need to look at this in a new light. Hiding her away from others and her true self did not help. I think we need to enroll her in some courses and get her trained. We can work on her frailty. Heaven knows she needs to bulk up some. And maybe you two could have time when the Mariners are not on the screen and Wuthering Heights is not in your hand to sit and reconnect."

"When did you get so wise Adrian?" I asked him.

"I have always been wise. You just didn't know it," he grinned down at me. "I could show you things you've never seen before," then he waggled his eyebrows at me. I felt the heat rush to my cheeks. "My oh my Miss Isabella," he whispered in my ear, "I wonder what you could be thinking about that makes you blush so … hard."

"Kids," dad coughed.

"Sorry sir, I was just extending my offer to Bella here to privately tutor her in her magic studies. Adrian Ivashkov reporting for duty." He cheekily grinned down at me after saluting my father.

"I never agreed to any of this," dad huffed.

"Dad," I sighed. "Please, let me learn how to defend myself." I looked pleadingly into his eyes that were a replica of my own.

"Fine," he said and looked away. YES! "But-"

"What?" I asked.

"I want someone other than lover boy here to teach you. I also want to be there for some of your sessions to make sure that you are getting along well."
"Done," I said happy that he was letting me do this.

"And one more condition." He demanded and stood by the door.

"Yes?" I asked nervous of what it could be.

"Do not try to take on anyone alone. No running off to take on this threat alone. You have to promise me this or I will have to resort to extreme measures."

"I promise to not run off," I vowed.

"Good, um. I'm going to go and talk to the queen about getting you a trusted trainer. Make sure to rest. And I do love you kiddo," he said.

"Love you too dad," I said then he walked out the door.

"YES!" I yelled and turned to Adrian. I went in for a hug and accidently fell into his arms.

"Now doll, if you wanted some of this all you had to do was ask."

"What if I am not in the mood for asking?" Then I took the plunge and pulled his shirt collar. His eyes went wide. If I wasn't preoccupied I would have laughed. I licked my lips then I went all the way in for a kiss. Adrian's shock wore off and he wrapped his arms around my waist and deepened our kiss.
