Hello! This is just a little fluff drabble I wrote about how I think the Zammie sorta kinda break-up should've gone. Happy endings and a pot of rainbows for everyone! Please R&R. Enjoy!

Note: This almost turned itself into a lime when I started imagining Zach's bedroom eyes near the end XD

DISCLAIMER: If I owned, I wouldn't feel the need to write fanfics now, would I?

"So this is how it ends, huh?" Cammie shuffled her feet.

"Yeah, I guess so," Zach awkwardly glanced around.

As a spy, Cammie could easily judge his emotions, but as a girl, she didn't want to know. Oh how lovely it would be to pretend she couldn't see it, that look in his eyes. It was written all over Zach's face. His expression was practically screaming 'I don't want to be here'. And if he didn't want to be there, she wouldn't keep him.

"Well, bye."

It seemed so mundane, so unimportant to an outsider, but the inside always tells a different story. It had taken all the courage Cameron had left to say those two simple words. 'I can't face him.' She turned, and holding back tears, she briskly walked away.

She was a spy, and spies have to control their emotions. No, even more importantly, she was the Chameleon. And what would the world come to if she dropped her façade? Her shifting skin smoothly slipping off, she'd crumble, completely exposing the complexity of her feelings. The once transparent girl would become a translucent entity, true soul nakedly bared for all to see.

The idea scared her, but she wouldn't let that happen. It wasn't in her nature. It hurt so much to walk away from him, but she had to keep going. Somewhere deep down inside, she knew that if she paused, even for the slightest second, she wouldn't be able to continue. So, in spite of her thoughts' hesitation, Cammie continued to walk with her head held high.

Sincere surprise overwhelmed her at the sensation of strong arms engulfing her torso. Zach. She could feel him, smell his naturally musky scent, hear his strong heartbeat. Leaning in closely, he rested his cheek on the crown of her head. His body radiated affection. Cam honestly had not expected him to chase after her. Life is not a fairy tale, and people should except that there are not always happy endings. Why didn't he understand that?

He could sense it. Zach knew she was lying to herself and to him. Breaking her fragile self-confidence would hurt him deeply, but it would be worse to let the woman he loved go. How could he allow her to walk away so easily? Their relationship would not go down without a fight.

Cameron sniffled, and then exploded into shimmering tears. She couldn't handle these overwhelming emotions. It was too much, so much that she thought she might break. Her essence swelled and burst with a rush of agonizingly sweet pain. Her delicate heart slowly split itself in two. Heartbreak. 'This is what it feels like.'

Suddenly, a thought came to her mind. Wait a moment. What was happening? Zach cared about her, and she cared about him. If the feelings were mutual, why was she so devastated? An image flashed. She was stabbing her own heart out, pulling it to pieces. 'I must be a masochist.'

"You don't have to be so strong all the time. Lean on me." She almost didn't hear Zach's sweet whispers. It was unusual. He was cocky, arrogant, stubborn, and willful, hardly romantic at all. And yet, here he was, leaving his warm breath and oh so tiny butterfly kisses by her ear. She was entranced with his presence. Everything about the situation made her want to cry harder and longer.

"Why?" She sobbed. "Why do you do this to me?"

At first, Zach didn't answer. He held her tighter, nuzzled her closely. When he stopped, he abruptly, but gently, turned her towards him. Gently wiping away her tears and caressing her cheek, he spoke softly, inaudibly.

"Because I love you."
