This is my first ever Fanfiction! Originally I didn't think I would make one, but seeing that Faithful didn't have any stories under his own category I just had to write this. I hope you like it!

Disclaimer: The Song of the Lioness series belongs to Tamora Pierce, I own nothing!

The Cat stepped lightly onto the white plain that appeared before him, slowly approaching the silver pool. He looked into it, watching as the image of a girl with copper hair and eyes the same purple as his own appeared.

"I see you have returned, Cat," he looked up from the pool as he heard the familiar voice.

'It seems so, Goddess,' he said bitterly, looking longingly back at the purple eyed girl.

"Are you getting soft Cat?" The Great Mother Goddess smiled warmly at the constellation when he did not answer, his eyes never leaving the image in the pool.

'I am not getting soft,' he snapped, twitching his tail.

"Do not worry Cat, she will be fine. She has chosen her path well."

The Cat sighed and the image in the silver pool changed to a girl with eyes like deep pools of ice and a long, blonde braid.

"It must have been painful Cat, being around that man, being reminded of….."

'Beka was different than him,' he hissed.

The Goddess raised an elegant eyebrow, "Oh really now?"

The Cat sighed and lay down, resting his head on his paws. The Goddess sat down next to him and gently stroked his head.

"There is nothing wrong with getting soft."
