Dreams of Ponyland
Some days, to long ago I drift,
to times of play and fun,
when naivete was a gift,
with laughter in the sun.
the Pegasi flew high above
with Ponies at my feet.
the Unicorns lived where I love
and free with every beat.
but then your fire scorched my soul.
your flames washed over me.
the flashing smile took its toll,
destroying fantasy.
in Masquerades, you took my hand,
made Lofty all my thoughts
with Medleys of Fireflies and
Surprises that are sought.
your Love Melody made me weak,
"Mirror Mirror," asked I,
"is this Angel the one I seek
and Truly worth the price?"
my coquette's heart was filled up tight
with Ribbons, Buttons, Bows,
the Unicorns of love so light
ignored the seeds you sowed.
every word you spoke enticed,
pushing my dreams away.
your Gusty vows of Paradise
begged me to always stay.
Pegasi in my head did dart
and whispered songs of old.
Unicorns pierced my beating heart,
but broke their horns of gold.
they wanted me to be with them,
to stay forever more,
your growing passion to condemn,
adulthood to ignore,
but your Majesty and Glory
kept me pulling in.
they knew the end of the story
and that they could not win.
slowly, surely, they faded away.
their places held, they withdrew.
Memories with you each day
replaced the love they knew.
Sometimes, now, I travel back,
visit where they dwell.
in Sunbeams, behind the facts,
to let their sorrows well.
they ask, "Megan, where have you been?"
Megan, where did you go?
will we finish what we begin
or will we never know?"
"have you forgotten us?
have you thrown us away?
will we sit here gathering dust?
will you come back and play?"
I try to explain my life's changes,
the feelings of my love,
to make them see my heart's ranges,
Which they will be part of.
They look to me with dark, dull eyes,
nothing understood.
I sadly return to my earthly ties,
and continue life as I would.
