Apologies it's taken me so long to get here. I don't really write much anymore, but it irked me this was never finished.

Jane held tightly to Maura's hand as she escorted her over to where the reception was to be held. Maura tilted her head and stopped, making Jane stop with her.

"What is it?"

"It's just…" Jane shifted on her feet. "I hope you like the wedding present I got you."

Maura's face lit up. "You got me a present?"

"Well…yeah. It's tradition. And…" Jane grinned. "I know how much you wanted tradition for this."

Maura kissed her softly. "I love you."

"Yeah, well, tell me that after I give you your present, okay?"

"You're cute when you're nervous. Have I ever told you that before?"

Jane wrinkled her nose. "No. And please don't tell anyone else. Ever."

Maura's chuckle turned into a gasp when she rounded the corner and saw the wedding reception. "Jane! That's…that's the Boston Symphony Orchestra!"

"Okay, don't get carried away. It's six of them. But I kinda know a guy, who knew another guy, who knew a cousin so I…I thought you'd like it."

Maura leaned up and kissed Jane deeply. "I love it."

Jane smiled with relief and took Maura's hand again as they went to the table at the front of the room. Angela, Korsak, Frankie and Frost were sitting up with them as the rest of the guests found their seats.

As the evening continued, Jane started to relax a little more. She had her wife beside her, and everytime she felt herself getting uncomfortable with the attention, she could feel Maura's hand resting on her knee, squeezing gently.

"I'm sure I don't know all these people," she muttered.

Maura looked at her and smiled. "I'm sure we don't either. But look how happy your mother is."

The couple looked over at Angela, who was drinking champagne with a woman Jane recognised.

"Oh my god! How many times did I tell her not to invite Carla Talucci?"

Maura burst into laughter and kissed Jane softly. "God, I love you."

As Jane held Maura in her arms for the first dance, she was struck at how she didn't feel awkward, or stared at or out of place. It just felt right for Maura to be snuggled against her, arms around her neck, head resting on her shoulder. It had taken a long time to get here – and god, without Maura she wouldn't even be here – but this was where she was supposed to be and everything finally felt perfect. She tightened her arms around her new wife's waist, causing the honey-blonde to look up at her.

"Is everything okay?"

Jane kissed her tenderly. "Everything's perfect."
