Until You're Mine
Extra: Husband, I Was Wrong

It was nighttime. In twenty minutes, the clock will strike at twelve, and a new day will begin.

In this night, Kinomoto Sakura stayed in her office. Her attention was on the computer screen. A frown showed on her face as she tried to figure out why was her account unbalanced. With a sigh, she browsed through the receipt on her table again to verify everything. If only Eriol were around, he would help her to figure out what went wrong.

Sakura jolted when her phone rang. She looked at the caller ID and smiled when she saw Tomoyo's name. Sakura swiped her finger across the screen and pressed the phone on her ears. "Hello! Tomoyo!"

"Where are you?"

Sakura bit her lips before she answered, "The bakery. Why?"

There was a brief silence before Tomoyo spoke. "You haven't left? It's almost midnight. "

"I'll leave soon. Don't worry. I'm just waiting for Touya to come and pick me up," Sakura said. "Why did you call?"

"Eriol and I will be visiting grandpa tomorrow. Do you want to come with us?"

"I'll pass," Sakura said. "Syaoran will return from his conference tomorrow. I'm going to the airport to pick him up."

"Alright, then."

The two cousins chatted for a while before they hung up. Soon, Sakura's went back to the computer. Just as she was focusing on the account, Sakura heard a noise coming from the kitchen.

Her body instantly went rigid. Was she hearing things?

This was not the first time she had stayed up late in her office. Sometimes her ears would often deceive her when she was alone in her office.

Her grip on the mouse tightened. She sat in silence as she tried to listen carefully.

Then she heard another sound. It was as if someone had entered the kitchen and rummaged through the chiller. Her eyes quickly search for her phone. First, she texted Tomoyo to call the police on her behalf if she didn't call her within five minutes. Then she waited until Tomoyo replied with worry seconds later. She sighed in relief, knowing that Tomoyo was still awake.

Sakura stood up and searched for something to use as a weapon. She the brand new frying pan she received earlier that week from a supplier. Sakura dialed the emergency number but did not press the call button. Then she walked out of her office and headed to the kitchen.

Adrenaline kicked in when she saw the faint light coming from the kitchen. She peeked behind the wall and saw that the refrigerator door was ajar. A silhouette crouched before the refrigerator, rummaging through some the ingredients inside.

Sakura gripped on the frying pan tightly. The thief does not seem to notice her presence. With that, Sakura took a deep breath and tiptoed towards the refrigerator. She raised the frying pan and swung it as hard as she can towards the silhouette and hit the target with a loud thunk. Sakura sighed in relief when the body went limp before her. She studied the man, and her eyes went wide when she recognized his face.

"S-Syaoran?"

Sakura hung up her call with her brother and turned to Syaoran with an ice pack in her hand. Then she pressed the ice pack on his wounded head. Syaoran had regained conscious not long after he passed out. She then gave a call to Tomoyo to tell her that she's alright, and another call to Touya to inform him that he did not have to come and pick her up.

Syaoran groaned as the ice pack touched his head.

"I am so, so sorry," she apologized for an umpteenth time. "I didn't know that it was you. I thought you were a thief. I am merely trying to protect myself."

"You can definitely protect yourself with that pan," Syaoran muttered. He took the ice pack from Sakura and leaned on the table behind him to nurse the pain.

Sakura snatched the ice pack back and helped Syaoran to press the ice on the wound. "Should we go to the hospital? What if you get a concussion? I'll call an ambulance, alright?"

Syaoran grabbed her wrist before Sakura could make a move, "Let me rest for a while. We'd go to the hospital if my condition worsened."

Sakura watched her husband with worry. Then, she nodded. "Why were you sneaking around in the kitchen anyway?"

"And what are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be home?" Syaoran decided to ignore her question.

Sakura bit her lips. "I've got some paperwork to do. I don't notice the time. You know that I'm not that good with bookkeeping."

Syaoran frowned at her answer. "Can't you just come in early tomorrow to get it done?"

"I wanted to finish this by today," Sakura said meekly.

His anger rose at her answer. "It's late. What if it wasn't me and instead, a thief barged in? What if something happened to you? Don't you know how worry I'll be? And you dared to stay here alone to the kitchen to confront this thief. Cupcake, what are you thinking?"

Sakura lowered her gaze as Syaoran continued to scold her. Her appearance was similar to a child. She knew that she was at fault for staying this late in the bakery when she should be at home. But she had planned to deal with the bookkeeping today so that she could take a day off tomorrow to accompany him. Sakura peeked to look at Syaoran's angry expression. Her hands tugged on his shirt as she looked at Syaoran with her puppy dog eyes. "Husband, I was wrong. I won't do it again."

The anger in him quickly dissipated. Even if Sakura was wrong, he could not stay angry at her for too long. Syaoran took a deep breath and looked away.

When Sakura saw his expression, she knew that Syaoran was no longer angry. She acted coyly and tugged at his shirt again. "Didn't you say that your flight arrived the next morning?"

Syaoran turned around and met her gaze. His heart softened when he saw the way she looked at him. He knew that she was trying to appease him. Syaoran stretched his hands and pinched both her cheek to vent his anger, but looking at her tender skin, he could not bear to be harsh on her. The strength in his pinch lessened. "I took an early flight to surprise you."

Sakura tilted her head sideways. "But why are you here?" She glanced at the chiller and turned to him. A flash of suspicion flashed in her eyes. "What are you doing rummaging through the chiller?"

Before Sakura could step towards the chiller, Syaoran grabbed her wrist again.

"Didn't I say I'm here to surprise you?" Syaoran glanced at the wall clock behind Sakura and smiled. The clock has struck at twelve. Then, he walked towards the chiller and took out a small cake—the surprise he had hidden earlier. The cake was decorated with fresh cream and blueberries.

Syaoran took a candle and a spoon from the side table. He placed the spoon on the table and lit up the candle. "Cupcake," he smiled. "Happy anniversary."

Sakura widened her eyes. She looked at the blueberry cake and then to Syaoran. They have been together for years, and he would occasionally call her 'cupcake.'

Then, the pair blow on the candle together. Slowly, her lips curved into a smile. Sakura stood face to face with her husband and placed both hands on his waist. "Happy anniversary." She tiptoed and placed a kiss on his lips.

Syaoran chuckled. He tilted his head as he watched his wife. His eyes slowly darkened.

When Sakura saw Syaoran's expression, she automatically took a step back. "What—what is it?"

"I just recalled something," The mischievous smile on his lips was becoming apparent. "The first time I kissed you, we were in this kitchen."

Hearing his words, Sakura lowered her gaze with her cheek reddened. How could she not remember? That time, she was decorating a cake for Tomoyo and then, her sister-in-law, Sheifa appeared with Aiko. After helping her to move the cake into the chiller, Syaoran had kissed her. She could still remember how her first kiss with Syaoran tasted like a blueberry pancake.

While Sakura was in a daze, Syaoran had scooped the cake with a spoon. Then, he held the spoon and said, "Here, try the cake and tell me if it's sweet."

Sakura snapped out of her thought and absentmindedly ate the cake. "It's pretty good. It's not too sweet. I think you should be able to eat it. Try it and —"

Before she finished what she was going to say, Syaoran had taken the opportunity to kiss her. He placed one around her waist, and another hand was holding her neck, pulling her closer to him, deepening their kiss.

Sakura gasped for air when he finally pulled away and rested her head on his chest. She only looked up at him after a few minutes have passed. When she looked at him, Syaoran still had that mischievous smile on his face.

He licked his lips and said, "It still tasted like blueberry."
