An Umbrella to Spare

Author's note: This is a little KibaHina story about when they were young. If you are a hater of this pairing, don't bother saying on the comments that the story sucks because of it. Any criticism that could help the story would be wonderful. R&R please.
Disclaimer: I do not own Naruto or any of the characters. Masashi Kishimoto does.
Now, let's get on with the story.
All was peaceful in Konoha. People were content, the weather was nice, and the end of the school day for the academy students was drawing near. Then, Mother Nature decided to be nasty. At first, there were only a few little drops falling from the sky, lightly, slowly, and everyone assumed the slight shower would soon be over. Then, the sky grew darker, and the rain fell harder and harder until the academy students could barely hear Iruka-sensei over the thunderous splattering.
"And that's all for today! Class dismissed!" Iruka-sensei shouted. All the children rushed to get their things together and ran out the door. Some had umbrellas over their heads due to overprotective moms demanding them to take one every day just in case, while others just made a run for it since they had either not listened to their mothers or their house was nearby. There was one child, though, who hadn't run for it or taken an umbrella. Her mother was overprotective and did demand her to bring an umbrella to school every day, but on this day the child had simply forgotten. Her name was Hinata Hyuuga.
The shy little 6-year-old girl looked at the rain with wide, clear white eyes that had hints of violet in it. Her eyes were filled with fear, regret, and shame. Fear, because she hated storms like these that were extremely loud, dark, and rainy. Regret, because of all the days she had to forget her umbrella, it was this day. And shame, because she knew her mother would scold her for being so careless. Her father would just look at her with slightly disgusted eyes, and then ignore her like he always did. As the scared little kunoichi debated what she should do, a voice came from behind her.
"Oi, Hinata! Hi! This rain sucks, doesn't it?" A scruffy, chocolate haired boy with red markings on his face and a dog on his head greeted the shy, midnight black haired girl.
"Oh, K-Kiba-kun how are y-you doing? Ah! And h-how is Akamaru?" Hinata greeted the young boy.
"Oh, I'm doing fine, so is Akamaru!" Kiba grinned at her, and then looked at her curiously, "Do you have and umbrella?"
"Ah! Well, um… I f-forgot it a-at h-home. S-silly me r-right?" Hinata smiled weakly while blushing slightly.
"Hey! Take mine!" Kiba suddenly proposed. When Hinata blushed harder and started to refuse he continued. "I'm serious! It's not that big of a deal! Girls shouldn't get wet in rain like this! It's okay for boys to get soaked, though, 'cause we don't mind it! Right, Akamaru? Anyway, the umbrella's not too important. Catch ya later!" He said, and then ran into the rain, leaving Hinata with the umbrella, and not much choice but to take it. She sighed, and then took the umbrella, with a blush on her face and warmth in her heart.
Later that day, Kiba Inuzuka, age 7, caught a cold and was punished for coming home all wet and accidentally "losing" (that's the excuse he used for explaining why it was gone) the best umbrella in the house.
