Post R2

Another day passes by, and things are in blurs. C.C. wonders if he's actually dead, silently hoping he pulls off another grand scheme. The driver of the cart she is hitch-hiking on looks similar to Lelouch, and C.C. hates it. Regardless, she puts on a happy face, as best she can, for Lelouch's sake, and greets the world he created.

For too long now, Lelouch has been gone. She waits, and prays, that he will return. Some part of her knows that he won't, but she ignores it.

The sky is beautiful. Too beautiful, C.C. thinks, for what happened not a week before. C.C. feels that God should at least show her pity by letting the Earth cry with her. Suddenly, a rain drop hits her forehead. She frowns even more.

Everyone's happy that he's gone. She chooses not to accept it. "He'll be here soon," she says, "just you wait and see." C.C. knows that he'll have some grand scheme in mind; he always does.

Realization hits. Lelouch is gone. C.C. finally knows the truth she had been denying. She lowers her head, silently lets a single tear fall, and walks on through her even darker Hell.

Memories are all she has left of him, and she knows that they too will pass with time. She hopes, though, that just maybe, before the end of it all, if there is an end of it all, that she can see him again.

And even though it has been so long, they continue to celebrate the day of his death as merrily as Christmas. C.C. does not get out of bed on that day. It is the only day she ever allows herself to cry.

Though all other memories are gone forever, she can still see him, and thanks God for it.

Hell or Heaven; which is left for her? As the last traces of Geass are exterminated along with the rest of the world, C.C. is finally able to rest. She lies on the ground and looks upwards to see Lelouch lying next to her. She knows she must be hallucinating. Even as the world dies, he holds her. Now, whether he's real or not, she doesn't care; she just knows she's happy. The sounds of a thousand different Hells are blocked off as he puts his hands over her ears. Those hands that had built so much, and protected her until the end. "Welcome home, C.C.," he says with a small smile on his face.

"I knew you'd come someday." C.C. says with a weak, and very weary, smile. She readies her mind to think of all the teases she can throw at the boy now that he's back, but she's too frail to speak anymore. She tries to act strong as she always did for him, but is just too tired.

The world ends, and the last experience of life is a smile. Her strength regained, she walks with Lelouch, hand in hand, into a different eternity.

I don't know why I keep doing fics where Lelouch is dead; I actually prefer the CCxLelouch post R2 more. *Shrugs* Oh well.
