Rain
By: Song
Summary: Rain doesn't discriminate, it gets everyone wet- even Naruto.
A/U: Written when it was raining- whilst contemplating why my own desires are always last on the list of importance.
High above the village, on the face of the Hokage Monument (Yondaime's to be exact) a boy hugs his legs to his chest and watches the rain fall. He is soaked- the once white shirt now translucent clinging to his skin and sun kissed hair plastered to his head.
"Naruto? NARUTO!" His sensei calls. "Naruto! There you are! Shodaime Naruto? What are you doing up here?" He asks clutching the cloak tighter around him.
"Hi Iruka-sensei." The little boy states forlornly not taking his eyes off the village.
"C'mon Naruto! Let's go inside. You'll catch your death out here!" He says holding out a hand. When the boy did not react he scratched he nose and added "We could go get some ramen together..."
"No thank you, sensei." The boy whispers resting his chin on his knees.
"What's wrong?" He asks after a short pause, sitting down beside him.
"I like the rain."
"Naruto?"
"It doesn't... it doesn't des-descimit- it doesn't hate me. Clouds rain on everyone. Rain gets everyone wet. It makes everyone sad. Not just me." He blinked, before continuing. "So I decided that I could make rain happy. Rain likes getting people wet I think. Maybe its lonely. So I'm staying out here and I'm making friends with the rain. See?" He said, holding up a hand and watching the droplets of water collect in his palm. "I have a friend now sensei. Maybe rain will be your friend too."
Iruka smiled, and held his hand out in the rain.
