A/N: This is my first Covert Affairs fanfic so please feel free to give me plenty of feedback.

Annie slid onto the bar stool careful of her skirt. Her legs crossed at the ankle with her heels tapping lightly against the bottom of the stool. Lifting one elegant finger she motioned to the bartender that she was ready to order a drink.

"Well you called me here. What do you want?"

"I wanted to see you and make sure you were doing okay. I miss you Annie."

Annie snorted in a very unlady like way, "You miss me? I've been here the whole time. You're the one who left, not the other way around."

"I know I left but I had no choice."

"There's always a choice." Annie said coldly motioning to the bartender again.

"I had no choice, they told me either leave or face the consequences. You know how harsh they can be, you work there."

"Yes, but I have to ask if it was worth it. Was is worth losing someone that loved you and would have followed you till the end of the earth and back to make you happy?"

The gentleman let out a sigh, "Annie, you know it's more complicated that than."

"No it's really not. It's that simple, you could have told me you were leaving instead of disappearing in the middle of the night Ben."

Ben smiled ruefully at her, "Annie it's hard to explain. The bottom line is that I came back, I've returned for you."

Annie let out a harsh laugh. "Come back for me, like I'd be waiting for you. You left me Ben, more than once in fact. I've moved on and found someone who isn't going to run away in the middle of the night. Besides it's not like you'd be staying around very long, first sign of something real and you'd turn tail and run again. So thanks but no thanks on that idea."

Ben looked stunned for a moment, he had been expecting Annie to be waiting and willing to come back to him. Nothing long term or serious, just some fun and then he'd be gone again. Annie rolled her eyes as the bartender finally made his way towards them.

"What can I get you?"

"Vodka tonic and a Sam Adams please," Annie said sliding a twenty across the bar, "Look Ben I'm sure you'll find someone who's all for a hit and run relationship. I'm just not your girl with that, I'm beginning to like stability and having someone there."

"Annie do you really believe you can settle down? You're just as much of a traveler as I am. Besides how good could thisguy be if he's not letting you be yourself and be free?" Ben said smirking at her.

"Ben, honestly I don't know but I'm willing to give it a shot with the guy I love. As for being good for me, he's the best thing that could have ever happened to me. He lets me be myself all the time, whether I'm traveling or not, or even if I'm just hanging out in my sweat pants. He loves me and frankly I love him a whole lot more than I could have ever loved you. " Annie said picking up the drinks. "Besides I know he won't run away from me." Annie walked away towards a table in the back of the bar. Ben leaned over to get a glance at the guy who had stole Annie Walker from him. Catching a glance of where Annie sat down Ben's jaw dropped, Annie had leaned over and kissed the man right on the lips and smiled afterwards. Ben shook his head, paid and walked out of the bar, it was only a matter of time before she realized that the other guy loved her. Ben had hoped he could make his case before someone else had gotten to her.

Annie smiled after laying a gentle kiss on her boyfriends lips.

"So how did the meeting go?" The man asked.

"He wanted me back but I knew he would run again. Besides I love you and I'm very happy where I am."

"Well that's good to hear Ms. Walker."

"That it is Mr. Anderson, that it is."
