Saving the chipmunks

(There characters don't belong to me unless you haven't heard of them before J)

Hugh walked through the front door and threw his jacket tidily on the coat rack. He had just gotten back from a week long mission. Unlike the missions most of the Daybreakers were going on, Hugh had been on a mission to save a bunch of chipmunks from the toxic waste. It made him feel better about himself if he saved one creature since he was not much of a fighter. Some of the other Daybreakers always found a way to make fun of him but he didn't really care. They found it hilarious. But Hugh didn't. He couldn't fight like everyone else so he had to save animals. He was an Old Soul and he wasn't a proper fighter like everyone else. At least he had someone to stick up for him.

Claire was only human (and an Old Soul) but she was ready to stand up for herself and even Hugh if she had too. Claire was feistier than Hugh was. Hugh would try to stop Claire from getting into fights with people who weren't, but she refused to back down. It was one of the many reasons Hugh loved her.

Dropping his bag on the floor, Hugh looked around. He'd missed the mansion which was now his home. Hugh had missed just hanging out with everyone. He had missed sitting on the couch with his soulmate in his arms. Hugh left his bag near where he had placed his coat and ran up the stairs. He stopped at the door at the end of the corridor. He pushed it open. Hugh smiled when he saw Claire sitting at the desk, writing. She looked beautiful.

Claire looked up when she heard the door open. She smiled when she saw her soulmate standing by the door with a smile on his face. "Hey," High said as Claire stood up and walked towards him. Claire walked into his waiting arms. It felt good to be back where she belonged.

"Hey, I've missed you," she told him quietly. Hugh planted a kiss on the top of her head as he smiled.

"I've missed you too my love," he whispered. Claire looked up before leaning up and kissing him gently. Hugh kissed her back. Claire knew she would next time that he went away she would have to go with him because it hurt too much to be away from him for so long. Even if she did have to go save chipmunks with him.
