I hate fireworks. Maybe it's because my dynamite is always mistaken as them, but either way I hate them.

So when the teacher announced that Namimori would be having a fireworks festival, I sat back in my chair in disappointment. Of all things…

"I heard the fireworks are going to be really pretty this year! I'm so excited!" Tsuna shook his fists in excitement. We were walking home, the baseball idiot also there, to have a short break before coming back to the school tonight to see the fireworks.

"Yeah, it'll probably be a lot of fun!" Yamamoto agreed.

"I probably won't go," I stated, digging around my pocket for a cigarette.

"What? You have to go!" Tsuna cried.

"Yeah, Gokudera! You can't miss out on all the fun!" Yamamoto complained.

"What's so fun about looking at flashy lights in the sky?" I protested.

"I guess you don't have to go, Gokudera-kun. I was just hoping I'd get to see the fireworks with all of my friends…" Tsuna sighed dejectedly.

"Well, I guess it won't hurt to go…" I said, suddenly feeling bad.

Tsuna perked up. We had reached the intersection.

"Well, then see you there, Gokudera-kun!" He waved as he ran off.

"Yeah, see you, Dera!" Yamamoto left as well, smiling and waving at me.

"Don't call me Dera!" I yelled after him. What had those two gotten me into?

I sat on the roof, watching the night sky. It truly was beautiful. Why would you need flashy lights in them?

I watched my exhaled cigarette smoke travel up into the sky, mingling with the stars.

It was ten minutes before the fireworks were supposed to start. I had left my house early because I had known my conflicting emotions would make me turn around many times. As far as I knew, the Tenth and the others hadn't shown up yet.

The door opened behind me, and I turned quickly to see the baseball idiot standing there. He smiled; obviously glad to see I had come.

"Mind if I sit with you?" He came up to me. I didn't say anything, but I moved over so he could sit down.

"I'm glad you came, Dera," he told me happily.

"Stop calling me Dera," I grumbled, wishing it was the Tenth here instead of Yamamoto.

"Why? Don't you like the nickname?"

"Of course not! I hate it as much as I hate fireworks!"

As if on cue, the first firework lit up the night sky. But neither of us was looking at it.

"There isn't anything I can do to make you like fireworks?" Yamamoto asked seriously.

"Of course not, stu-!" I started, confused by his seriousness.

But I never got to finish as Yamamoto leaned over and kissed me. When he pulled away, I just sat there, dazed. Even though I was slightly out of breath from the last one, I leaned over and kissed him back.

When we broke apart this time, I buried my head in his shirt, trying to hide my embarrassment.

"Don't really know what came over me there," I sighed, laughing slightly.

"Me neither."

I looked up at Yamamoto and as the second firework lit the sky, we kissed again.

Hn… maybe fireworks aren't that bad.
