Expectancy
It was around the middle of August. A slightly windy day, complete with falling leaves, hot apple cider, and the need for scarf's. One could tell it was time for Autumn.
Danny Fenton was quite glad for such a day.
After working for NASA for almost two years, married to the love of his life, and a secret once again under wraps, he was more than happy to be sitting in his pristinely polished kitchen that morning and drinking his usual cup of black coffee.
His icy blue eyes skimmed over the words of his morning newspaper, freshly delivered. Never noticing his wife come down the stairs and into the kitchen.
She draped her arms around his neck, and placed a kiss to his cheek.
"You hungry?"
He looked up with a small smile "yeah, a little" and Sam Fenton set herself to preparing breakfast.
She started humming, and her face was glowing, which didn't get passed Danny. "You seem happy this morning" as she flipped the omelette.
Placing it on the plate, she added the bacon, and a few breakfast sausages.
Her bright smile grew as she set the plate before him. "Well, I find it a nice day, why not be happy? Would you rather me coming barrelling in with a sledgehammer and yelling at you?"
He chuckled as he stabbed a piece of bacon. "I guess this is a bit better."
Sam set herself down at the table with a slice of jellied toast and an orange, looking up as she felt his continuous stare.
Her smile grew hesitant "what?" she questioned as he looked her over.
"Nothing…it's just….are you sure your okay? I mean your acting kind of off today."
Amethyst eyes blinked in a slight stupor, before she smiled once again. Her fingers set to work peeling the orange as she met his gaze.
"Well….I guess it's kind of a childish saying, but I know something you don't know" as he continued to stare.
"Really? Well is it a good something or a bad something?"
"Depends on how you take it."
"Ah."
And he left it at that.
As she finished peeling the orange, she looked up once again. "Not curious?" And he saw the small pout on her face.
"No, I'm curious, just….thinking about what it is"
"You never asked me" she pointed out.
Looking up he laughed under his breath. "If I ask, will you tell me, or will you continue to be secretive?"
"That depends."
"Ah. And on what does it depend?"
"If you ask me or not."
He looked up with an irritated glance, as she gave him a cheeky smile.
"Okay….." as he dropped his fork to look at her "What do you know that I don't?"
Sam pushed her chair back with a slight wanton look, walked over to him, and gently slid into his lap. His arms looped around her waist as she leaned into his ear.
"I know someone who's pregnant" and she took his arm, placed it on her stomach, and beamed at him.
Danny blinked slightly, looked at Sam, drifted down to his hand on her stomach, and than back to Sam.
"A-are you serious?" and she kissed him lightly.
"Positive" she stated.
His mouth broke into grin as he got up, taking her with him, and holding her against him in delight. Spinning her before leaning in for another kiss.
"Sam this-this is fantastic news!" As her laughter bubbled up. "Good because your facial reaction wasn't doing much justice."
He let her down and nuzzled into her neck with a soft sigh. As they continued they're happy hug Sam blinked slightly confused.
"Danny?"
"Hmm?"
"Are you ok?"
"Just taking it all in." And Sam smiled.
Pushing him back, she cradled his face, and stole another kiss.
"Don't you want to finish breakfast?"
"I'm too excited to eat. I might just throw up"
She rolled her eyes "I thought that was my job" and he wrapped his arm around her waist.
Taking her to the living room, he couldn't keep the grin off his face "come on" he pestered "we have people to call."
