It was 3:00 am in the morning. The castle was asleep. Hardly anyone was awake, or, if they were, they were not showing much energy.
Except for a billowing figure at the 6th floor. This was Severus Snape.
Severus Snape was not at all sleepy. He, instead, was in pain.
All Snape could think about these days was one person and one person only. A red- haired figure named Lily Evans.
Lily. The name made his chest ache. Any red – haired figure he sees would make tears spring to his eyes
If only he could see her again, Snape thought as he climbed up the stairs and walked up and down the 7th level corridor.
I want Lily. I want to see her. Her smile, her eyes, her hair…I want to see her again…
Suddenly there was a sound and Snape looked up. A magnificent door suddenly appeared out of nowhere.
Snape pulled out his wand and looked around warily. He went inside the room, his wand held high.
It was dark in here. ' Lumos,' Snape said, and the tip of his wand lit up. He looked around.
The room was empty, except for a very large mirror in the center of the room. It was so high that the top of the mirror touched the roof.
Snape walked closer to it. On top of the mirror, he saw the words: Erised stra ehru oyt ube cafru oyt woshi.
Snape had no idea what on earth that meant. He looked in the mirror to see his reflection, and gave a startled cry.
Standing in front of him, was Lily Evans.
Snape stared at her. She looked almost exactly like she did at school. Her hair was flowing, her smile was sparkling and her eyes were so bright the need for the light from his wand was unnecessary.
'Lily?'
Lily nodded. Before he knew, Snape's knees buckled and he flopped to the ground.
'Lily…' Snape said. Tears burned hot in his eyes and raced furiously fast and thick down his cheeks. He was so close to the mirror he could have fell in. He scratched at the mirror.
'Lily…Lily, please come back. Please.'
Lily watched him sadly, she too crying. Snape tried and wrapped his hands around the mirror.
'Please, Lily… I'll do anything. Anything.'
Lily cried harder. Snape let out a very loud howl, and began banging the ground with his fist.
'WHY? WHY, LILY, WHY? WHY YOU, NOT ME? '
He wrapped his arms around his legs and pulled it close to his chest. He rocked back and forth, like he did when his father was hurting his mother.
'All I want to do is go to him…Voldemort… Let him kill me…I want to be with you…'
Lily bent down too, her hands on the mirror glass, sobbing.
Snape didn't know how long he sat there. But eventually, he got up and stroked the mirror.
'I'll be back, Lily. I promise. I'll never leave you.'
