An update after two years? Wrong. If you don't want to read this long explanation, I bolded all the important points of this rant. However, you should definitely stick around until the end. If you care at all after this long, that is.

I'm going to be completely honest with you guys. No excuses or anything. I absolutely hate this story. I don't want to finish it. My writing style has changed so much in all this time since I last wrote for this that it honestly makes me cringe to read what I wrote. I cannot physically sit down and write or read any of this anymore. I really and truly hate it.

So, if you can't already tell where this is going, here's the quick and easy way of saying it. I'm not completing this story. I'm never going to, and I'm never going to want to ever again. I'm sorry if that bursts your bubble or whatever, but I don't care. I'm sorry if I sound mean, but I don't really care. I'm sorry if you really love this story, but I don't care. So don't send me hate mail, death threats, or continuous messages about how you want me to continuous this story. No amount of bribing or begging will matter either. It won't happen and I will ignore your request.

If you want some more reasons as to why I don't want to finish this story, I have a few more. For one thing, I'm not actively involved in any Sonic-based things anymore. I've moved on. That's not to say that I don't like Sonic the Hedgehog anymore. I love the franchise (aside from the new Sonic Boom game) and I love the creators of the game and comic. I'm very excited for Sonic Mania to be released, and for the new Sonic 2017 game to be fully announced as well. I just don't involve myself in it as much as I used to. I've moved to the Yu-Gi-Oh fandom, and now I'm even more involved in the Overwatch fandom. It's just my new interests.

Secondly, I don't have near as much time to write as I did before. I'm in technical college now, so I have even less time to write than in high school. Even during the summer I'm taking classes, since I must complete a summer internship to finish my program and to graduate. Not only that, but I'm involved with a few committees in a club that I have joined and that takes precedence over my writing. It's very stressful so to be a Baking and Pastry Arts major, especially when I'm still getting used to life as a college student. It's only my first semester, and my next semester has even more credit hours that I must complete.

So, with all that aside, I think we all know what month it is. November. Not only that, but it's also NaNoWriMo. If you don't know what that is, it stands for National Novel Writing Month, and it lasts all through the month of November. The object of NaNoWriMo is that you try to write an entire 50,000+ word novel during the time allotted. There's a website if you want to look it up.

In the spirit of NaNoWriMo, I'm willing to make a deal with you all. I'm willing to completely rewrite the entirety of this story from scratch and repost it. That's right. I have a few ideas for it, and I've already begun to write the first chapter. However, this new story will be a new take on The Rose in the Mist. It won't be at all like the original, and it's going to be a discombobulated AU of sorts. I suppose it was already kind of an AU, but the new story is definitely changed in that aspect. I'm making it similar to the basic plot line of TRITM, but it will essentially be a different story. It will also still hold the name of The Rose in the Mist.

The main problem I had with TRITM was the fact that I made some of the characters extremely out of character. For example, Silver was not even close to what he is naturally like. I had changed his personality to fit my own devices, which is not the way to go about it. I also made the change in relationship between Amy and Mephiles very sharp and sudden. Amy should be very freaked out that a strange person just suddenly showed an interest in her in the middle of an alleyway at night. I was much younger when I wrote this story, five years younger in fact, so I was a little oblivious to how true relationships work. The redux will have a more realistic take on the world of these characters.

I'm a little late to the party, but that's okay. I'm not really planning on writing 50,000 words, and I'm especially not planning on finishing this during this month. I mostly just want to bring this idea to your attention and to ask if you would like to see it come to fruition. I made a strawpoll that I would like you all to complete about whether you would read the remake of TRITM or not. If the consensus is yes, I will post the story. If it is a no, I won't.

I will continue to write the first chapter in the meantime. Take this strawpoll if you please. It will be up for a long time, so if you don't see this immediately, go ahead and take it anyway. It'll probably still be there. Thank you for your understanding in advance and have a good day.
