In 48 Seconds
The roller coasters are swirling around and
People fly past above my head, screaming.
I've never seen so many kids,
All ages included,
In one gathering together.
"Lets ride the Dragster" my older brother says.
The drum beat in my chest rises as
We climb aboard the ride.
When the latches come down,
Securing me in my prison,
I brace myself for impact.
Seconds pass before I'm jolted forward
Climbing into the sky.
My breath is stolen.
As if the wind itself needed more.
I clench my fists until
My knuckles turn white.
One second, sky is all I can see,
Then I'm jolted forward and down.
Small figures below are gaining clarity.
I'm sucked into a tunnel and
Spat out, with my senses muddled,
For the next group to be lashed about.
Class assignment. It came out better than I thought. I'm not that good at poetry or anything like this. Critique, please! :D
